Nuvrei (also known as Nuvrei Bakery, Nuvrei Patisserie and Cafe, and Nuvrei Pastries) is a bakery in Portland, Oregon. Description and history Nuvrei is a ''pâtisserie'' in northwest Portland's Pearl District. The menu has included macarons, pretzel croissants, and sandwiches. The business is owned by Marius Pop. In 2010, Nuvrei announced plans to open an upstairs cafe. The cafe opened in October 2011. Paul Losch was announced as chef in 2012. In early 2014, Nuvrei announced plans to open Macaron Bar (or "Mac Bar") downstairs. The upstairs cafe closed temporarily for renovations in January 2015; during this time seating was expanded in the downstairs Brioche Week and the business launched Brioche Week to offer additional pastries. Northwest Portland is one of the sextants of Portland, Oregon, United States. Northwest Portland includes the Pearl District, most of Old Town Chinatown, the Northwest District, and various residential and industrial neighborhoods. A range of streets primarily in Northwest Portland is named alphabetically from Ankeny through York (the street following York is Reed Street). The Pearl District is an area of Portland, Oregon, formerly occupied by warehouses, light industry and railroad classification yards and now noted for its art galleries, upscale businesses and residences. The area has been undergoing significant urban renewal since the mid-1980s when it was reclassified as mixed use from industrial, including the arrival of artists, the removal of a viaduct and construction of the Portland Streetcar. It now consists of industrial building conversion to offices, high-rise condominiums and warehouse-to-loft conversions.
