Numan, Nigeria
Numan, also known as Nomweh (meaning 'hilltop'), is a town and a Local Government Area in Adamawa State, Nigeria. It is a port town that lies on the confluence of Benue River and Gongola River. The predominant ethnic group in the town are the Bwatiye (Bachama) people who have a reputation of being unconquered warriors in all their history. The Bwatiye people are led by a First Class King known as the Hama Bachama, who is the paramount ruler of the Bachama Kingdom, whose Voti (palace) is in Numan the administrative seat of the throne while Lamurde has another palace for the King as that is the spiritual or ancestral home of the Bwatiye people. Ahmad Muhammad Numan ( ar, أحمد محمد نعمان; 26 April 1909 – 27 September 1996) was an educator, propagandist and politician. He was a principal progenitor of modern Yemeni nationalism. Numan was an original founder of the Free Yemeni Movement, a propagandist in Cairo for the Yemeni Unionists and once foreign minister and twice Prime Minister of the Yemen Arab Republic. An-Numan ibn Muqarrin ( ar, النعمان بن مقرن) (died December 641) was a companion of Muhammad. He was the leader of the tribe of Banu Muzaynah. The tribe of Banu Muzaynah had their habitations some distance from Yathrib on the caravan route which linked the city to Makkah. During the Caliphate of Abu Bakr and Umar An-Numan had several brothers, and all of them were accomplished soldiers. During the caliphate of Abu Bakr (r. 632–634), An-Numan and his family played a major role in putting an end to the apostasy wars. Arthur Numan (born 14 December 1969) is a Dutch former professional footballer. He played as a left back and was a regular fixture in Netherlands national football team. He is currently the team manager for the Netherlands B squad and a scout for AZ Alkmaar. Hendrik "Henk" Numan (13 June 1955 – 26 April 2018) was a judoka from the Netherlands, who won the bronze medal in half-heavyweight division (-95 kg) at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. His only loss at that tournament was against the later champion Robert Van De Walle from Belgium. A year earlier he won a bronze medal at the 1979 World Judo Championships. Yasin Said Numan ( ar, ياسين سعيد نعمان; born 1948) is the former General Secretary of the Yemeni Socialist Party from 2005 to 2015. He is the current ambassador of Yemen to the United Kingdom since 2015. Numan joined the Yemeni National Front, which later became the Yemeni Socialist Party, when he was 17. is a 1993 competitive sports arcade game developed and released by Namco. It runs on the company's NA-2 hardware, and has eight unusual competitions to test the strength and might of four mutant athletes called "Numans" (Sharon L'Alles, Harry Boffin, Masaemon Nakamura, and Bongo Tembo).
