''Nuevo Rico Nuevo Pobre'' is a Colombian telenovela produced and broadcast by Caracol TV starring Martín Karpan, John Alex Toro (well known by his participation in ''Maria Full of Grace''), Maria Cecilia Botero, Carolina Acevedo, Hugo Gómez, former Miss Colombia Andrea Nocetti and Andrés Toro (from ''Sin Tetas No Hay Paraíso''). The show started on July 78 2007 on Caracol TV and it is also broadcast on Ecuador's Teleamazonas in primetime. Caracol TV has sold the rights of the show to Telemundo and Fox. It is, as of May 2008, one of the highest rated TV shows in Colombia. Plot The Telenovela follows Andrés Ferreira, who was born from a poor woman and went with a rich woman, and Brayan Galindo, who was born to a rich woman and went with a poor woman. Telenovela
A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs. Teleamazonas is an Ecuadorian television network that was launched on 22 February 1974. It is one of the major television networks in the country. It was founded by Antonio Granda Centeno and has two feeds: one produced in Quito and broadcast in the rest of the country, and the other one produced in and distributed in Guayaquil. History Teleamazonas began broadcasting on February 22, 1974, as the first network with colour television transmissions in Ecuador. Its headquarters are located in Quito.
