The Church of Our Lady of the Mount Carmel ( es, Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen), popularly known as Iglesia de la Aguada, is a Roman Catholic parish church in Montevideo, Uruguay. Overview Originally there was a small church where, in 1829, the First Constituent Assembly was summoned. The present temple was built in 1861 and, later, in 1930, the facade was adapted to the new street. The parish was established 8 September 1866. The church is dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, a very popular devotion of the Virgin Mary. Durazno
Durazno is the capital city of the department of Durazno in Uruguay. Durazno is characterized by being the most central city of Uruguay. It has a population of more than 30,000 inhabitants. In the past it was the capital of Uruguay; today the capital is Montevideo. Location The city is located at the intersection of Routes 5 and 41, in the south of the department, close to the borders with the departments of Flores to the southwest and Florida to the southeast. Aguada is a ''barrio'' (neighbourhood or district) of Montevideo, Uruguay. Its name indicates water flow and originates from the springs and well it used to have which supplied the original city and the boats with drinking water. Salto () is the capital city of the Salto Department in northwestern Uruguay. As of the 2011 census it had a population of 104,028 and is the third most populated city in Uruguay, after Montevideo and Ciudad de la Costa. Carmelo, Uruguay
Carmelo is a city located in the department of Colonia of western Uruguay, noted for its wineries. Location Route 21 passes through the city, joining it with Nueva Palmira to the northwest and Colonia del Sacramento to the southeast. History During the beginning of the Conquest of the 16th century, the Spanish founded the Fuerte de San Lázaro (April 7, 1527 - October 1530). In 1611, Hernando Arias de Saavedra, governor of Asuncion, landed cattle near the mouth of the Arroyo de las Vacas. A populated centre was established here which had reached the status of "Pueblo" (village) before the Independence of Uruguay. The present city was founded by José Gervasio Artigas on 12 February 1816. Its status was elevated to "Ciudad" (city) on 17 August 1920 by the Act of Ley Nº 7.257. Recorded and produced by Rudy Pagliuca, it is a free download on the website of the record label All of the Above. Background and Recording The album was recorded in Caracas in 2009, on fairly independent terms. San Gregorio de Polanco is a small city in the Tacuarembó Department of northern-central Uruguay. Geography The city is located on a peninsula on the north shore of the artificial Rincón del Bonete Lake and along Route 43, about south of the department capital city of Tacuarembó. Route 43 passes across the lake to Durazno Department by ferryboat. History It was founded on 27 November 1853. On 13 October 1963, its status was elevated to "Villa" (town) by the Act of Ley Nº 13.167, and then on 13 December 1994 to "Ciudad" (city) by the Act of Ley Nº 16.666. Melo () is the capital city of the Cerro Largo Department of north-eastern Uruguay. As of the census of 2011, it is the ninth most populated city of the country.
