Nowe Widnokręgi
''Nowe Widnokręgi'' (Polish: ''New Horizons'') was a Polish language magazine initially published monthly, later once every two weeks and served as the official organ of the communist Union of Soviet Writers. It was published from February till June 1941 in Soviet-occupied Lwów. Despite its orientation, it differed from the earlier publication '' Czerwony Sztandar'', reflecting a more softened cultural policy of the Soviets vis-a-vis Polish culture.Caviar and ashes: a Warsaw generation's life and death in Marxism, 1918-1968. Roman Werfel
Roman Karol Werfel (24 May 1906 in Lwów – 2003, United Kingdom), was a Polish Communist politician, active during the reign of Stalinism in the People's Republic of Poland. He was an editor-in-chief of "Nowe Drogi", the leading organ of the Central Committee of the communist United Workers' Party (1952-1959), and from 1948 director of party publishing house ''Książka i Wiedza''. Karol Kuryluk (27 October 1910 – 9 December 1967) was a Polish journalist, editor, activist, politician and diplomat. In 2002, he was honored by Yad Vashem for saving Jews in the Holocaust. Biography Kuryluk was born on 27 October 1910 in Zbarazh, Zbaraż (Zbarazh), a small town in Galicia (Spain), Galicia, the eastern province of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (after World War I part of Poland, today in Ukraine), and died in Budapest. He was the eldest son of Franciszek Kuryluk, a mason, and Łucja, née Pańczyszak. He had four brothers (two of them died in early childhood) and five sisters. Stefan Jędrychowski (19 May 1910 – 26 May 1996) was a Polish communist politician, economist and journalist, who served as deputy prime minister, foreign minister and finance minister in Poland. Early life and education Born in Warsaw on 19 May 1910, Jędrychowski hailed from a middle-class Catholic family, who owned properties and apartment houses in Wilno, in the Russian part of Poland. His mother was of German origin. He studied law and social science at Stefan Batory University in Wilno, graduating in 1932. Then he obtained a master's degree in law from the same university. Halina Górska
Halina Górska (14 May 1898 in Warsaw – 4 June 1942 in Lwów) was a Polish writer and a communist activist. Biography Halina Endelman was the daughter of Zygmund and Czeslawa Endelman. She married Marian Gorski. They had one child born in 1924. She also had a granddaughter, who was born, long after she died Beginning in 1924 Górska became associated with the Lwów literary scene. Her first publication, in 1925, was "Mam mieszkanie" (''I have an apartment''), in the ''Kurier Lwowski''. In 1930 she published the fairy tale "O księciu Gotfrydzie, Rycerzu Gwiazdy Wigilijnej" (''About Prince Gotfried, Knight of the Christmas Star''). For many years she worked for the Lwów radio station, as a host of a special program for young adults.
