Now And Again (The Grapes Of Wrath Album)
''Now and Again'' is an album by Canadian band The Grapes of Wrath, released in 1989. It was the band's first album to feature new member Vince Jones on keyboards. The album was produced by Anton Fier and was recorded in an old (and supposedly haunted) church in Woodstock, New York. Guest musicians included Chuck Leavell, Sneaky Pete Kleinow and Jane Scarpantoni. ''Now and Again'' was certified Platinum in Canada and is the band's most commercially successful album to date. The album contained one of the band's biggest hit singles, "All the Things I Wasn't". ''Now and Again'' was the 13th best-selling Cancon album in Canada of 1989. In ''Chart'' magazine's 2000 reader poll of the Best Canadian Albums of All Time, ''Now and Again'' ranked in 27th place. The Grapes Of Wrath (band)
The Grapes of Wrath are a platinum-selling Canadian rock band. Formed in 1983, they enjoyed their greatest commercial success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The group split in 1992, with Kane going solo while Jones and the Hoopers continued to record as Ginger. Vocalists Tom Hooper and Kevin Kane briefly reunited as the Grapes of Wrath for one album in 2000. With the return of Chris Hooper for a festival appearance in 2010, the three founding members were back together and have continued to perform and record since. ''Singles'', a greatest hits collection featuring two new recordings, was released in October 2012 by EMI in Canada. "Let Me Roll It" is a song by the British–American Rock music, rock band Paul McCartney and Wings, released on their 1973 album ''Band on the Run''. The song was also released as the A-side and B-side, B-side to "Jet (song), Jet" in early 1974, and has remained a staple of McCartney's live concerts since it was first released. Origin The song's title was inspired by a quote from George Harrison's "I'd Have You Anytime," the opening track from his critically acclaimed ''All Things Must Pass''. According to ''Ultimate Classic Rock'' contributor Nick DeRiso, John Lennon incorporated the riff (music), riff from "Let Me Roll It" into his 1974 song "Beef Jerky (John Lennon song), Beef Jerky." DeRiso rated it as Wings' 7th greatest song. ''RPM'' ( and later ) was a Canadian music-industry publication that featured song and album charts for Canada. The publication was founded by Walt Grealis in February 1964, supported through its existence by record label owner Stan Klees. ''RPM'' ceased publication in November 2000. ''RPM'' stood for "Records, Promotion, Music". The magazine's title varied over the years, including ''RPM Weekly'' and ''RPM Magazine''. Canadian content (abbreviated CanCon, cancon or can-con; ) refers to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) requirements, derived from the Broadcasting Act of Canada, that radio and television broadcasters (including cable and satellite specialty channels) must produce and/or broadcast a certain percentage of content that was at least partly written, produced, presented, or otherwise contributed to by persons from Canada. Peter E. "Sneaky Pete" Kleinow (August 20, 1934 – January 6, 2007) was an American country-rock musician. He is best known as a member of the band The Flying Burrito Brothers and as a session musician playing pedal steel guitar for such artists as Joan Baez, Jackson Browne, The Byrds, Leonard Cohen, Joe Cocker, Rita Coolidge, Eagles, The Everly Brothers, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, John Lennon, The Steve Miller Band, Joni Mitchell, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Spencer Davis, Little Richard, Linda Ronstadt, Jimmie Spheeris and many others. Chuck Leavell
Charles Alfred Leavell (born April 28, 1952) is an American musician. A member of the Allman Brothers Band throughout their commercial zenith in the 1970s, he subsequently became a founding member of the band Sea Level. He has served as the principal touring keyboardist and musical director of the Rolling Stones since 1982. As a session musician, Leavell has performed on every Rolling Stones studio album released since 1983 with the exception of ''Bridges to Babylon'' (1997).
