"Let Me Roll It" is a song by the British–American Rock music, rock band Paul McCartney and Wings, released on their 1973 album ''Band on the Run''. The song was also released as the A-side and B-side, B-side to "Jet (song), Jet" in early 1974, and has remained a staple of McCartney's live concerts since it was first released. Origin The song's title was inspired by a quote from George Harrison's "I'd Have You Anytime," the opening track from his critically acclaimed ''All Things Must Pass''. According to ''Ultimate Classic Rock'' contributor Nick DeRiso, John Lennon incorporated the riff (music), riff from "Let Me Roll It" into his 1974 song "Beef Jerky (John Lennon song), Beef Jerky." DeRiso rated it as Wings' 7th greatest song. Alternatively, ''Rolling Stone''s critic Jon Landau, saw the song as a pastiche of John Lennon's sound, particularly the riff and the use of tape echo on the vocals. Wings were a British-American rock band formed in 1971 by former Beatle bassist Paul McCartney, his wife Linda McCartney on keyboards, session drummer Denny Seiwell, and former Moody Blues guitarist Denny Laine. ''Wings over America'' is a triple live album by the British–American rock band Wings, released in December 1976. The album was recorded during the American leg of the band's 1975–76 Wings Over the World tour. It peaked at number 8 on the UK Albums Chart and reached number 1 on the US ''Billboard'' Top LPs & Tape chart. In addition to including several of McCartney's hits with Wings, the album features performances of five of his Beatles songs: " Yesterday", "Lady Madonna", "I've Just Seen a Face", " Blackbird" and "The Long and Winding Road". The New World Tour
In 1993, Paul McCartney and his band embarked upon The New World Tour, spanning almost the entire year and almost the entire globe. This tour featured a controversial pre-concert film (starting in the U.S leg of the tour), which was shown before all of the concerts and had graphic animal test footage in the film. The tour incorporated painted stage sets (at the time the world's largest, measuring 16,400 square feet), projections, and promotional material designed by a regular McCartney collaborator, the artist Brian Clarke. Philip Norman (born 13 April 1943) is an English author, novelist, journalist and playwright. He is best known for his biographies of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Buddy Holly and Elton John. His other books include similar studies of John Lennon, Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney and Eric Clapton. Early years Norman was born in London but grew up in Ryde, on the Isle of Wight.
