These New Puritans are an English music group/band from Southend-on-Sea, England. It consists mainly of Jack Barnett (principal songwriter, vocalist, producer, multi-instrumentalist) and his twin brother George Barnett (drums, electronics, producer, artwork). Multi-instrumentalist Thomas Hein was an active member of TNP between 2006 and 2016; keyboardist Sophie Sleigh-Johnson was active between 2006 and 2010. They have recorded four studio albums: '' Beat Pyramid'' (2008), '' Hidden'' (2010), '' Field of Reeds'' (2013) and '' Inside the Rose'' (2019). Their music has been described as "blurring the distinction between rock, classical, electronic and experimental" and as "strikingly modern yet simultaneously timeless." Post-punk revival (also known as garage rock revival,J. Stuessy and S. D. Angular Records
Angular Recording Corporation was an independent record label founded in New Cross, South East London. It was established in June 2003 by two ex-Goldsmiths College students, Joe Daniel and Joe Margetts, who reclaimed a local Ordnance Survey Triangulation Station and made it their first artefact: ARC 001. The label's founders were influenced by a love of angular pop music and the Manchester label Factory Records. Gaining funding through medical testing, Angular Recording Corporation was able to finance its debut release in November 2003, the ''NME''-championed ''The New Cross : An Angular Sampler'', making it the lead review in the magazine. In the 2011 England riots, the label lost all its stock and entire back catalogue in the PIAS warehouse fire. An ''Angular Store'' website remains active. ''Beat Pyramid'' is the debut studio album by British art rock band These New Puritans. It was released on 28 January 2008 in the United Kingdom through Angular and Domino and on 18 March 2008 in the United States through Domino. The album was recorded in London and Paris during 2007 and was produced by Gareth Jones in London. The double A-side "Numbers/Colours", "Elvis" and "Swords of Truth" were released as singles. Lyricist and primary composer Jack Barnett has claimed that hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan were among the influences for the album, along with electronic music from artists in the vein of Aphex Twin.
