Beat Pyramid
''Beat Pyramid'' is the debut studio album by British art rock band These New Puritans. It was released on 28 January 2008 in the United Kingdom through Angular and Domino and on 18 March 2008 in the United States through Domino. The album was recorded in London and Paris during 2007 and was produced by Gareth Jones in London. The double A-side "Numbers/Colours", "Elvis" and "Swords of Truth" were released as singles. Lyricist and primary composer Jack Barnett has claimed that hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan were among the influences for the album, along with electronic music from artists in the vein of Aphex Twin. Origins and Recording These New Puritans' first release was the extended play '' Now Pluvial'', which was a three track long record released in October 2006 through independent record label Angular Records. These New Puritans
These New Puritans are an English music group/band from Southend-on-Sea, England. It consists mainly of Jack Barnett (principal songwriter, vocalist, producer, multi-instrumentalist) and his twin brother George Barnett (drums, electronics, producer, artwork). Multi-instrumentalist Thomas Hein was an active member of TNP between 2006 and 2016; keyboardist Sophie Sleigh-Johnson was active between 2006 and 2010. A DVD magazine under the ''Uncut'' brand was published quarterly from 2005 to 2006. Wu-Tang Clan is an American hip hop group formed in Staten Island, New York City, in 1992. Double A-side
The A-side and B-side are the two sides of phonograph records and cassettes; these terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. The A-side usually features a recording that its artist, producer, or record company intends to be the initial focus of promotional efforts and radio airplay and hopefully become a hit record. The B-side (or "flip-side") is a secondary recording that typically receives less attention, although some B-sides have been as successful as, or more so than, their A-sides. Use of this language has largely declined in the 21st century as the music industry has transitioned away from analog recordings towards digital formats without physical sides, such as CDs, downloads and streaming. Angular Recording Corporation
Angular Recording Corporation was an independent record label founded in New Cross, South East London. It was established in June 2003 by two ex-Goldsmiths College students, Joe Daniel and Joe Margetts, who reclaimed a local Ordnance Survey Triangulation Station and made it their first artefact: ARC 001. The label's founders were influenced by a love of angular pop music and the Manchester label Factory Records. Gaining funding through medical testing, Angular Recording Corporation was able to finance its debut release in November 2003, the ''NME''-championed ''The New Cross : An Angular Sampler'', making it the lead review in the magazine. In the 2011 England riots, the label lost all its stock and entire back catalogue in the PIAS warehouse fire. An ''Angular Store'' website remains active.
