A raion (also spelt rayon) is a type of administrative unit of several post-Soviet states. The term is used for both a type of subnational entity and a division of a city. The word is from the French (meaning 'honeycomb, department'), and is commonly translated as "district" in English. Sambir Raion
Sambir Raion ( uk, Самбірський район) is a raion in Lviv Oblast in western Ukraine. Its administrative center is Sambir. Population: . It was established in 1965. On 18 July 2020, as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, the number of raions of Lviv Oblast was reduced to seven, and the area of Sambir Raion was significantly expanded.
