Novastar is a Belgian rock band led by Dutch-born singer-songwriter and guitarist/pianist Joost Zweegers. They are known for their emotional ballads, and the high pitch of Zweegers's voice. Another Lonely Soul
''Another Lonely Soul'' is the second album of the Belgian band Novastar, released in 2004 by WEA. The album stayed at #1 of the Flemish Ultratop album chart for six weeks and was awarded a platinum record and the TMF Award for best album. The songs "Never Back Down", "When the Light Go Down on the Broken Hearted" and "Rome" were released as singles. In 2006, Virgin Records released the album in all European countries. For this release, the album was remixed and supplemented with the song "Wrong", a single from the previous album ''Novastar'', which preceded the other songs. Background Singer and pianist Joost Zweegers intended to record the album in the United States, but unhappy with the way he was pushed to produce hits, he returned to Belgium. He started a collaboration with the Belgian musician Piet Goddaer (Ozark Henry) and together they wrote the songs for ''Another Loney Soul''. Wouter Van Belle
Wouter Van Belle is a Belgian musician and producer. He is known for his work with Flip Kowlier, Gorki, Noordkaap, Arno, Axelle Red, Yevgueni, Novastar and Racoon. He scored as producer four number-one albums in Flanders and one in the Netherlands, and had top three singles in Flanders, France and the Netherlands. He is also the keyboard player for Dead Man Ray. One of his first productions was ''Gorky'', the debut album of Belgian band Gorki. Van Belle was responsible for much of the sound and melody of the song ''Mia'', which he turned from a punkrock song into a piano ballad. Despite never being released as a single, it became a classic which was voted the best song ever by the listeners of Studio Brussel and best Belgian song ever by the listeners of Radio 1. The Zamu Music Awards was an annual awards show in Flanders (Belgium), where the most outstanding Flemish and international musicians of the past year were honored. The Zamu Awards were founded ''ZaMu'' (''Zangers en Muzikanten''; the Flemish association of singers and musicians). ''ZaMu'' was discontinued in 2006, but the organization of the Zamu Awards was taken over by ''Muziekcentrum Vlaanderen'' (Flanders Music Center), under the name Music Industry Awards (MIA's) For most award categories, a jury of music journalists selects four nominees. The winners are voted by members of the Flemish music industry, such as musicians, managers and record labels. The first Dutch TMF Awards were held in 1995, as a brand extension to the recently launched local Dutch music channel TMF. The show was very small and held in the company cafeteria. However throughout the years the event gradually moved to bigger venues, and for some time now, it is now being held in Rotterdam Ahoy, a venue which can seat 10,000 people. In 2006, the show was held in the 'Heineken Music Hall' in Amsterdam. Since 1998 (with the arrival of the Belgian channel, broadcasting in Dutch, purely for the Flemish part of the country) a second TMF Awards show was launched. Humo's Rock Rally
Humo's Rock Rally is a Belgian contest for rock bands, organized every second year since 1978. It is organized by the Belgian magazine HUMO. Every band that has not yet released an official recording, may enter the Rock Rally, by submitting a demo to HUMO. Humo then selects 100 bands to compete in the pre-selections, followed by semi-finals and a final with 10 bands. The competing bands are assessed by a professional jury. Money prizes are awarded to the top three bands, as well as to one band chosen by the audience. The Rock Rally is an important possibility for young Belgian rock bands to get in the picture. Sittard
Sittard (; ) is a city in the Netherlands, situated in the southernmost province of Limburg. The town is part of the municipality of Sittard-Geleen and has almost 37.500 inhabitants in 2016. In its east, Sittard borders the German municipality of Selfkant (in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia). The city centre is located at 45 m above sea level.
