Galenika ( sr-cyr, Галеника) or Nova Galenika ( sr-cyr, Нова Галеника) is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Zemun. Location Nova Galenika is located on the north-western outskirts of Zemun. Zemun ( sr-cyrl, Земун, ; hu, Zimony) is a municipality in the city of Belgrade. Zemun was a separate town that was absorbed into Belgrade in 1934. It lies on the right bank of the Danube river, upstream from downtown Belgrade. The development of New Belgrade in the late 20th century expanded the continuous urban area of Belgrade and merged it with Zemun. The town was conquered by the Kingdom of Hungary in the 12th century and in the 15th century it was given as a personal possession to the Serbian despot Đurađ Branković. ''Vreme'' ( Serbian for ''Time'') is a weekly news magazine based in Belgrade, Serbia. Galenika (company)
Galenika a.d. ( sr-cyr, Галеника а.д.) is a Serbian pharmaceutical company with headquarters in Zemun, Belgrade. History Founded in 1945, Galenika was a major pharmaceutical drug-maker in the Balkans with exports to Europe, Africa and Asia. During its golden times, it was the greatest Yugoslav pharmaceutical company which controlled over 65% of SFR Yugoslavia market share. In 1991, the company was bought by American ICN Pharmaceuticals, led by Serbian American businessman Milan Panić. Even during the 1990s Yugoslav Wars and massive debts of FR Yugoslavia toward the company, it kept operating positive. In 1999, by political decision of Slobodan Milošević's regime, the FR Yugoslavia took over the majority stake of the company. Batajnica
Batajnica ( sr-Cyrl, Батајница, ) is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital city of Serbia. It is located in the Belgrade municipality of Zemun. Location and geography Batajnica is located in the Syrmia region, in the northern part of the municipality, close to the administrative border of the province of Vojvodina and it is both the northernmost and the westernmost part of the Belgrade's urban area. It is close to the Danube's right bank, but not on the river itself, due to the floodings. A small, 114 metre-high hillock separates the settlement from the river. Kamendin, Zemun
Kamendin ( sr-cyr, Камендин) is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Zemun, in the northwest section of Zemun. It adjoins the neighborhood of Zemun Polje on the west, it extends to the north in the direction of Batajnica while in the southeast it makes an urban connection in the direction of the Nova Galenika and Goveđi Brod industrial zones. The neighborhood was constructed in the 1990s and was intended as the eastern extension of Zemun Polje and the future urban connection of the urban Zemun and Batajnica. Zemun Polje ( sr, Земун поље) is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in the municipality of Zemun. Location Zemun Polje is located on both railway and highway Belgrade-Novi Sad, halfway between the western section of urban Zemun (Nova Galenika) and Batajnica. For decades completely outside the urban section of Belgrade, since the late 1990s it made urban connection with the extended industrial zone of Nova Galenika on the east (through the neighborhood of Kamendin and the fast developing neighborhood of Plavi Horizonti on the south. Altina ( sr-cyr, Алтина) is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. Located in the Belgrade's municipality of Zemun, it is one of the newest and fastest growing parts of the city. Sutjeska ( sr-cyr, Сутјеска) is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Zemun. Location Sutjeska is located west of the old core of Zemun. It is bordered by the neighborhoods of Sava Kovačević on the west (bounded by the ''Šilerova'' street), Gornji Grad on the north (''Ugrinovačka'' street), Novi Grad's sub-neighborhood of Vojni Put I on the south-west (''Pazovački put''), while ''Prvomajska'' street marks the southern border of the neighborhood. Gornji Grad ( sr-cyr, Горњи Град) is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Zemun. Location Gornji Grad is located in the northern part of Zemun, spreading along the right bank of the Danube. It is roughly bounded by the ''Ugrinovačka'' and ''Banatska'' streets, while other important streets include ''Cara Dušana'' and ''Pregrevica''. Goveđi Brod
Goveđi Brod (Serbian Cyrillic: Говеђи брод) is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Zemun. Location Goveđi Brod is the northwestern extension of urban Zemun proper, located on the right bank of the Danube. It occupies roughly the area between the Danube and the road which connects Zemun and the outer suburb of Batajnica (''Batajnički drum'').
