The Norveg Coastal Culture and Industry Center ( no, Norveg – senter for kystkultur og kystnæring) is part of the Nord-Trøndelag Coastal Museum on the island of Vikna, Norway. Norveg contains historical exhibits, a restaurant, a gallery, and a cultural center. The head of the Nord-Trøndelag Coastal Museum is Charles Utvik. The museum is located in the municipal center, the village of Rørvik, near the Norwegian Coastal Express, and it is one of the characteristic landmarks along the coast. The museum's new building, which was opened by King Harald V on June 16, 2004, was designed by the architect Guðmundur Jónsson and was nominated for Europe's most important architectural award, the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture, in 2005. Rørvik
Rørvik is a port town and administrative centre in the municipality of Nærøysund in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is on the eastern side of the Vikna archipelago on the island of Inner-Vikna. The town has a population (2022) of 3,385 and a population density of .The municipality has a population (2022) of 9,840. Prior to 2020, the town served as the administrative centre of the old Vikna Municipality. There are several museums in Rørvik. The Norwegian Coastal Museum, with its center for coastal culture and vessel protection, is located here. Vikna
Vikna is a large island archipelago and a former municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1869 until its dissolution in 2020 when it joined Nærøysund Municipality. It was part of the Namdalen region. The administrative centre of the municipality was the town of Rørvik. Other villages in Vikna included Austafjord, Garstad, and Valøya. At the time of its dissolution in 2020, the municipality was the 269th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway. Vikna was the 221st most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 4,492. The municipality's population density was and its population had increased by 11.4% over the last decade. A millennium site ( no, tusenårssted) is a site selected by a Norwegian municipality or county municipality to mark the transition to the 2000s. In Norway it was decided that the counties and municipalities would choose one millennium site for each county and municipality. County millennium sites The point of departure for the Ministry of Culture, which was behind the concept of the millennium sites, was that there should be a millennium site in each county, and that these should be designated by 2005. Guðmundur Jónsson
Guðmundur Jónsson (born 11 December 1953) is an Icelandic architect who lives in Norway. He was educated at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (1975–1981) and ILAUD (International Laboratory of Architecture and Urban Design) in Italy in autumn 1979. He practiced with Lund & Slatto and Eliassen and Lamertz-Nilssen in Oslo from 1981 to 1987 and established Gudmundur Jonsson Arkitektkontor in the same year. His most notable designs are the Norveg Coastal Culture and Industry Center in Rørvik, Hardangervidda Nasjonalparksenter, Norsk Fjordsenter in Geiranger, Søsterskipet in Rørvik, and the library in Akureyri, Iceland. Of all his works, his best-known are the Ibsenmuseet in Oslo and Norgeshistorisk utstilling in Maihaugen, Lillehammer. ''Hurtigruten'' (), formally Kystruten Bergen-Kirkenes ("coastal route Bergen- Kirkenes"), is a Norwegian public coastal route transporting passengers that travel locally, regionally and between the ports of call, and also cargo between ports north of Tromsø. Harald V ( no, Harald den femte, ; born 21 February 1937) is King of Norway. He acceded to the throne on 17 January 1991. Harald was the third child and only son of King Olav V of Norway and Princess Märtha of Sweden. He was second in the line of succession at the time of his birth, behind his father. In 1940, as a result of the German occupation during World War II, the royal family went into exile. Harald spent part of his childhood in Sweden and the United States. The European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award is a prize given biennially by the European Union and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, Barcelona, 'to acknowledge and reward quality architectural production in Europe'. The Prize was created in 1987 through an equal partnership among the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe. The award is open to all the works completed in Europe within the two-year period before the granting of the prize. Nord-Trøndelag (; "North Trøndelag") was a county constituting the northern part of the present-day Trøndelag county in Norway. The county was established in 1804 when the old Trondhjems amt was divided into two: Nordre Trondhjems amt and Søndre Trondhjems amt. In 2016, the two county councils voted to merge (back) into a single county on 1 January 2018. As of 1 January 2014, the county had 135,142 inhabitants, making it the country's fourth-least populated county.
