Northern Asia-Pacific Division
The Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD) of Seventh-day Adventists is a sub-entity of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, which oversees the Church's work in portions of Northern Asia, which includes the nations of Japan, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea, and Taiwan. Its headquarters is in Goyang City, South Korea. The Division membership as of June 30, 2021 is 285,242. Goyang
Goyang (''Goyang-si''; ) is a city in Gyeonggi Province in the north of South Korea. It is part of the Seoul Capital Area, making Goyang one of Seoul's satellite cities. It is one of the largest cities in the Seoul Capital Area, with a population of just over 1 million. Ilsan, a planned city, is located in the Ilsandong-gu and Ilsanseo-gu districts of Goyang. It also includes Deogyang-gu which is closer to Seoul. Several institutions of higher learning are located in Goyang. The General Conference Corporation of Seventh-day Adventists is the governing organization of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Its headquarters is located in Silver Spring, Maryland and oversees the church in directing its various divisions and leadership, as well as doctrinal matters. The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a major Christian denomination with a significant presence in the People's Republic of China with a reported 472,314 members as of June 30, 2020. Many of its pastors in China are women. There are or used to be more than 350 SDA congregations in Jilin Province. Adventism in Sichuan refers to the history and implantation of Adventism in the Chinese province of Sichuan (formerly romanized as Szechwan; also referred to as "West China"). History Early in 1914, the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA) officials in China laid plans to establish a mission station in Sichuan, Francis Arthur Allum () and Merritt C. Warren () were chosen to be the mission's pioneers, accompanied by three Chinese staff members —Dju Dzi Ih (), Shi Yung Gwei () and Li Fah Kung ()— from Honan Province. The five men arrived in Chungking and rented some quarters to construct a small chapel and bungalows for the mission staff. The Seventh-day Adventist Church is an Adventist Protestant Christian denomination which is distinguished by its observance of Saturday, the seventh day of the week in the Christian (Gregorian) and the Hebrew calendar, as the Sabbath, and its emphasis on the imminent Second Coming (advent) of Jesus Christ.
