Northern Arizona Lumberjacks Cross Country
Northern Arizona Lumberjacks cross country are the cross country teams of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. The Lumberjacks compete in the Big Sky Conference at the Division I level in the NCAA and are head coached by Michael Smith. History Men's team The team was runner's up at the NCAA Men's Division I Cross Country Championship in 1988, 1995, 2013. Since 2016, the Northern Arizona men's team has been considered as the nation's leading program in NCAA Division I, winning a three-peat National Championship run from 2016-2018 and being undefeated in the regular season. The team has won 20 of the last 25 Big Sky team championships and won 17 of the last 25 Big Sky individual titles as of 2017. The team has been consistently ranked in the top 3 of the USTFCCCA national coach's poll since the start of the 2016 season. The team was the runner up in the 2019 national championship. NAU Lumberjacks
The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks are the varsity athletic teams representing Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona in intercollegiate athletics. The school's mascot was adopted in 1946. The Lumberjacks compete in NCAA Division I and are full members of the Big Sky Conference with the exception of the women's swimming and diving team which is an affiliate member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Sports sponsored Individual teams Men's Basketball The school's team has competed in the Big Sky Conference since 1970. The team's most recent appearance in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was in 2000. The Lumberjacks are currently led by interim head coach Shane Burcar who replaced Jack Murphy. Johanna Nilsson
Johanna Nilsson (27 March 1983 – 25 June 2013) was a Swedish middle- and long-distance runner. She was a bronze medallist at the European Cross Country Championships in 2005. Despite an early retirement in 2006 she had a highly successful collegiate career in the United States, winning three NCAA indoor titles and winning the NCAA Women's Division I Cross Country Championship in 2005. Her sister, Ida Nilsson, was also an international distance runner. Career A native of Kalmar, Sweden, she competed in running competitions at young age. Her sister, Ida Nilsson, also competed internationally for Sweden. Among her first international honours was an individual silver medal and team gold in the junior section of the 2000 Nordic Cross Country Championships. Angela Chalmers
Angela Chalmers (born September 6, 1963) is a Canadian retired track and field athlete who competed in the 1500 metres and 3000 metres. She is the 1992 Olympic bronze medallist in the 3000 metres, and a three-time Commonwealth gold medallist, winning the 1500m and 3000m in 1990, and the 3000m in 1994.
