Northeast Arkansas League
The Northeast Arkansas League was the name used by a pair of American minor league baseball leagues. The first of these started operations in 1909 and continued through 1911. The second version began operations for the 1936 season. It continued through the 1941 season. Paragould is the county seat of Greene County, and the 19th-largest city in Arkansas, in the United States. The city is located in northeastern Arkansas on the eastern edge of Crowley's Ridge, a geologic anomaly contained within the Arkansas delta. Osceola Indians
The Osceola Indians were a minor league baseball team based in Osceola, Arkansas. In 1936 and 1937, Osceola played exclusively as members of the Northeast Arkansas League, with the team becoming a minor league affiliate of the St. Louis Browns in 1937. The Indians hosted minor league home games at the Osceola High School Park. History The "Osceola Indians" were the only minor league baseball team hosted in Osceola, Arkansas, with the team beginning play in 1936 and folding after the 1937 season. In 1936, Osceola became charter members of the reformed Northeast Arkansas League, which began play as a six–team Class D level league. Osceola joined the league, which consisted of the Batesville White Sox, Jonesboro Giants, Newport Cardinals, Paragould Rebels and West Plains Badgers / Caruthersville Pilots as charter members. Osceola is a city in, and a dual county seat of, Mississippi County, Arkansas, United States. Located along the Mississippi River within the Arkansas Delta, the settlement was founded in 1837 and incorporated in 1853. Occupying an important location on the river, the city's economy grew as steamboat traffic increased. Timber and cotton harvesting would develop, and the city experienced rapid growth and development throughout the early 20th century. The Newport Dodgers were a Northeast Arkansas League baseball team based in Newport, Arkansas, USA that played from 1936 to 1941. Newport Canners
The Newport Canners were a Minor League Baseball team that played in the Class D Appalachian League from 1937 to 1942 and the Mountain States League from 1948 to 1950. The were located in Newport, Tennessee, and played their home games at City Memorial Park. The team's games were temporarily transferred to Maryville, Tennessee, for approximately two weeks late in the 1940 season. The Canners were unaffiliated with a Major League Baseball team during six of their nine seasons but had affiliations with the New York Yankees in 1939 and the Washington Senators in 1940 and 1942. Over all nine seasons of competition, their all-time regular season win–loss record was 426–553 (.435).
