The North Geelong Football Netball Club Inc is an Australian rules football and netball club located in Geelong. History The club was established in 1876, and is currently in the Geelong & District Football League. The club's colours are black and white, with a magpie as their logo. Their home shorts are black with black socks. They have won a total of 17 senior premierships, 11 reserves premierships and 7 U18s premierships. Their home ground is Osborne Park in Swinbourne Street, North Geelong. The club dominated the league in the 1950s, winning seven premierships in a row and eight premierships in ten years between 1949–1958. In 1959, the club considered joining the Victorian Football Association, which was expanding at the time, and the club approached the VFA to enquire about minimum home ground requirements and the like; but it never ultimately joined. The Geelong & District Football League (GDFNL) is an Australian rules football and netball league in Victoria (Australia), Victoria, being the oldest surviving competition in the region. It is one of three leagues in the Geelong area, the others being the Geelong Football League, Geelong FNL and the Bellarine Football League, Bellarine FNL. There are 12 teams competing in the GDFL, which has also produced over 600 Australian Football League, VFL/AFL players. History The league was formed in 1879 as the Geelong and District Football Association (GDFA). In 1919 it changed name to the GDFL, before changing to the Geelong Junior Football Association in 1922. It reverted to the GDFL name in 1933, then back to the GDFA in 1939, and back to the GDFL in 1945. Ray Sarcevic (born 14 February 1964) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1980s. Sarcevic, recruited from North Geelong, made just four VFL appearances, three of them in 1984 and the other in 1985. Nick Muller
Nichol Haworth "Nick" Muller (10 September 1914 – 19 May 1947) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Career Muller, from North Geelong, made three VFL appearances for Geelong early in the 1936 VFL season. He didn't play a senior game in 1937, but was a member of the Geelong seconds premiership team. His brother, Angie Muller, played in Geelong's senior premiership that year. In 1939 he joined Warrnambool in the Hampden Football League and ended the year with another premiership. Angie Muller
Angus Alan Muller (13 November 1912 – 18 August 1966) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong Football Club, Geelong and Fitzroy Football Club, Fitzroy in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL). Muller was recruited locally, from North Geelong, and made his league debut in 1933 VFL season, 1933. The following season he had his best year, claiming nine Brownlow Medal votes to finish as the top placed Geelong player. In the 1937 VFL season, Muller appeared in 13 successive wins, the last of which came in the 1937 VFL Grand Final, Grand Final where he managed 28 effective disposals and claimed six marks. A left footer, he was used mainly on the wing but could also play as a centreman, rover and half forward flanker. He is credited as the 4000th player to appear in the VFL and represented the league at interstate football on four occasions.
