Ken Hands
Ken Hands (26 October 1926 – 22 December 2017) was an Australian rules footballer in the Victorian Football League The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). On the death of teammate Alex Way on 7 November 2014, Hands became the last surviving member of Carlton's 1945 Premiership team, and was also the last surviving member of their 1947 Premiership team. North Geelong Football Club
The North Geelong Football Netball Club Inc is an Australian rules football and netball club located in Geelong. History The club was established in 1876, and is currently in the Geelong & District Football League. The club's colours are black and white, with a magpie as their logo. Their home shorts are black with black socks. They have won a total of 17 senior premierships, 11 reserves premierships and 7 U18s premierships. Their home ground is Osborne Park in Swinbourne Street, North Geelong. The club dominated the league in the 1950s, winning seven premierships in a row and eight premierships in ten years between 1949–1958. In 1959, the club considered joining the Victorian Football Association, which was expanding at the time, and the club approached the VFA to enquire about minimum home ground requirements and the like; but it never ultimately joined. The Carlton Football Club, nicknamed the Blues, is a professional Australian rules football club that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's top professional competition. 1945 VFL Grand Final
The 1945 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the South Melbourne Football Club and Carlton Football Club, held at Princes Park in Melbourne on 29 September 1945. It was the 47th annual Grand Final of the Victorian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 1945 VFL season. The match, attended by 62,986 spectators, was won by Carlton by a margin of 28 points, marking that club's seventh premiership victory. The game was noted and remembered for its rough play and a number of violent incidents, out of which seven players were suspended. It has continued to be remembered as one of the roughest games in the league's history, giving rise to its nickname, the Bloodbath. Alex Way
Alexander Way (13 August 1925 – 7 November 2014) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1940s. Way played six games in his debut season, for 12 goals, five of them in a match against Geelong. He was recruited from the Coburg Rangers and was a member of Carlton's 1945 premiership team.
