North Caucasian Federal District (russian: Се́веро-Кавка́зский федера́льный о́круг, ''Severo-Kavkazsky federalny okrug'') is one of the eight federal districts of Russia. It is located in extreme southern Russia, in the geographical area of the North Caucasus. The federal district was split from Southern Federal District on 19 January 2010. The population of the federal subjects comprising the federal district was 9,428,826 according to the 2010 Census, living in an area of . The current Envoy is Yury Chaika. Demographics Ethnic Russians constitute less than one-third of the total population at 2,854,040 (30.26%) according to the 2010 Census, but constitute a majority of 80% in Stavropol Krai and are at least 20% of the population in North Ossetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, and Karachay-Cherkessia. Chechen (, ) (, , ) is a Northeast Caucasian language spoken by 2 million people, mostly in the Chechen Republic and by members of the Chechen diaspora throughout Russia and the rest of Europe, Jordan, Central Asia (mainly Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan) and Georgia. Magas
Magas (russian: Мага́с) is the capital town of the Republic of Ingushetia, Russia. It was founded in 1995 and replaced Nazran as the capital of the republic in 2002. Due to this distinction, Magas is the smallest capital of a federal subject in Russia. In 2019, it had a population of 8,771 inhabitants, up from 5,841 in 2010 and 272 in 2002. History The Republic of Ingushetia came into existence in 1992, having been split from the Chechen–Ingush ASSR. Nazran, the largest of three towns of the new republic, was made a temporary capital. Flag Of Ingushetia
The flag of Ingushetia ( inh, ГӀалгӀайчен Байракх), in the Russian Federation, was adopted in 1994. It shows a red triskelion symbol on a white background, with narrow green horizontal stripes above and below. The flag was officially commended by TFE in 2010.
