North American Soccer League (2011–2017)
The North American Soccer League (NASL) was a professional men's soccer league based in the United States. The league was named for, but had no connection to, the original North American Soccer League. The later NASL was founded in 2009, and began play in 2011 with eight teams. From 2013 through 2017, the NASL used a split-season schedule running from April to early November, with a four-week break in July. The spring and fall champions, along with the two teams with best combined spring/fall records met in a four-team single-elimination tournament known as ''The Championship''. The winner of the final claimed the Soccer Bowl trophy. While there was no promotion and relegation with other leagues, former commissioner Bill Peterson repeatedly stated that the league had an interest in introducing promotion and relegation to the pyramid. Etienne Barbara (born 10 June 1982) is a Maltese former footballer and manager. Club career Malta Barbara started his career as a youth player with Qormi. After having been spotted by scouts following some impressive displays, he earned a move to play in the Maltese Premier League with Floriana in July 1999. Early in his career with them, he was often used in defensive positions and although he played 74 games with the club he only managed eight goals – all which were all scored during the 2001–02 season. In 2002, Barbara received his first call up to the Maltese national team due to a number of impressive performances for Floriana. Mark Anderson (born 13 February 1989) is an English footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Spennymoor Town. College and amateur career Barry University Anderson played college soccer at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida. Nick Zimmerman (born May 3, 1987 in Tampa, Florida) is an American soccer player. Career Coaching Zimmerman began coaching in 2015 for Columbus State University's women's soccer program, a Division II school in Columbus, GA, as the assistant coach under Jay Entlich. College and amateur Zimmerman played college soccer for James Madison University from 2005 to 2008. In his four years with James Madison, he appeared in 75 matches scoring 13 goals. Wálter Restrepo Uribe (born June 21, 1988) is an American-born Colombian football player. Career 2006–2010 He played professionally in Colombia from 2006–2010, appearing in both the first and second division for Deportes Tolima, Boyacá Chicó and Expreso Rojo. Walter Isidro Ramírez (born November 7, 1983) is a Honduran footballer who plays for Miami United FC in the National Premier Soccer League. Career After playing with the amateur teams Real Honduras and Honduras Five Star (Honduras Cinco Estrellas) in the prestigious Florida-based Copa Latina, Ramírez signed with Miami FC of the USL First Division prior to their first season in competition in 2006. Luke Mulholland (born 7 August 1988) is a former English footballer and current scout for Real Salt Lake in Major League Soccer. Career College and amateur Mulholland began his career with English non-league side Lancaster City. He was thrown into the team as a youngster due to the club's financial difficulties but starred during a difficult period for the club. Takuya Yamada
is a former Japanese football player. He played for Japan national team. Club career Yamada attended Toin Gakuen High School, where he led the school to the final four in the National Championship. Played at Komazawa University before turning professional where he won a variety of different national titles, including the gold medal for Japan at the 1995 Summer Universiade. The San Antonio Scorpions were an American professional soccer team based in San Antonio, Texas. Founded in 2010, the team made its debut in the North American Soccer League in 2012.
