North Albany Football Club
The North Albany Football and Sporting Club, more often referred to as North Albany, is an Australian rules football club located in Albany, Western Australia. Nicknamed the roos, the club play in the Great Southern Football League, with home games being hosted at Collingwood Park. Since being formed in 1897, netball and association football teams have played under banners of North Albany or Kangas. History On 13 May 1897 football players from the North Ward formed a club called the North Albany Football Club. Wearing the colours of red and blue, the side played their inaugural matches at the Parade Street Oval. In 1908, North Albany competed in Albany's first formal football competition. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. Declan Mountford
Declan Mountford (born 13 February 1997) is a professional Australian rules footballer who played for the North Melbourne Football Club and the West Coast Eagles Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) and is currently playing for Claremont Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Mountford was born in the small town of Manypeaks in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. Ron Boucher
Ron Boucher (born 24 January 1953) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) playing for the Swan Districts Football Club. He was regarded as a formidable ruckman and is well remembered for his physical clashes with other players, especially Graham Moss. Boucher was nicknamed "Roo" by his team mates and wore the number 5 guernsey for his career at Swan Districts. He debuted for Swan Districts in 1971 and retired in 1984. Brad Bootsma
Bradley Bootsma (born 30 December 1972) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Fremantle Football Club in the Australian Football League. He played as a half-back flanker or midfielder. Bootsma was recruited from South Fremantle in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and is the father of former AFL footballer Josh Bootsma. Allen 'Shorty' Daniels (born 21 April 1959) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Footscray in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Tarkyn Lockyer
Tarkyn Lockyer (born 30 October 1979) is a former professional Australian rules football player who played for the Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Upon his retirement at the end of the 2010 season, he served as the head coach of the Collingwood VFL Football Club. He then served as the midfield development coach at Collingwood. Jeremy McGovern (born 15 April 1992) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL).
