Norm Benning
Norm Benning Jr. (born January 16, 1952) is an American professional stock car racing driver and team owner. He last competed part-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, driving the No. 6 Chevrolet Silverado for his team, Norm Benning Racing. He has worked as a driver analyst for TheRacingExperts.com in the past. Benning has often been referred to as Stormin' Norman after his performance in the 2013 Mudsummer Classic, the Truck Series' first race on dirt. He previously competed in the NASCAR Busch Series and Winston Cup Series. Early career Born in Level Green, Pennsylvania, Benning began by racing as a 15-year-old at Heidelberg Raceway even though he was supposed to be at least 18 years old. Norm Benning Racing is an American professional stock car racing team that currently competes part-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. The team is owned by Norm Benning, who drives the No. 6 Chevrolet Silverado. History Norm Benning Racing opened in 1993, DNQ'ing all attempts by team owner Norm Benning in Cup competition. Benning began fielding the No. 8 and 84 car in the ARCA Menards Series, ARCA Racing Series in 1995 for himself and other drivers. Benning ran the team in four Nationwide races from 2003–2004. The team's most successful series has been the Truck Series, after successfully making 7 of the 8 races they attempted in 2008. The 2013 Mudsummer Classic (formally the CarCash Mudsummer Classic presented by CNBC Prime's ''The Profit'') was a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series stock car race held on July 24, 2013, at Eldora Speedway in New Weston, Ohio. The race was the first dirt track race held by a NASCAR national touring series (Cup, Xfinity, Trucks) since 1970. Contested over 150 laps, the race was the tenth of the 2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season. Jerry O'Neil (born March 28, 1956) is an American retired NASCAR driver from Auburn, New York. He competed in 16 NASCAR Winston Cup Series races in his career between 1990 and 1993. The Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is an auto racing sanctioning body in the United States, founded in 1953 by John Marcum. The current president of ARCA is Ron Drager, who took over the position in 1996 following the death of Bob Loga. Heidelberg Raceway was an American auto racing track which was built near Heidelberg, Pennsylvania in Scott Township, Allegheny County, approximately southwest of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It held weekly races and numerous special events between 1948 and 1973. It held four NASCAR Strictly Stock/Grand National Series and one NASCAR Convertible Division race between the 1940s and 1960s.
