Nordfjordeid is the administrative centre of the municipality of Stad in Vestland county, western Norway. It is located at the end of the Eidsfjorden, an arm off of the main Nordfjorden, west of the large lake Hornindalsvatnet. The village of Stårheim is located about to the west, the village of Mogrenda is about to the east, and the village of Lote is about to the southeast. The town is a commercial hub for the municipality and greater Nordfjord region. It includes several industries, such as timber, agriculture, electronics and commerce. It is the shopping hub for surrounding villages and towns, due to the shopping center and commerce streets. There are 5 primary schools, one lower secondary school and an upper secondary school connected to the Opera House in the town. Eid Church (Nordfjord)
Eid Church ( no, Eid kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Stad Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Nordfjordeid. It is the church for the Eid parish which is part of the Nordfjord prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1849 by the builder Claus Wiese using plans from the architect Hans Linstow. The church seats about 550 people. This is the fifth church building to sit at Nordfjordeid. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to 1322, but it was likely built during the 12th century, making it one of the oldest church sites in Nordfjord. Eid is a former municipality in the county of Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. It was located in the traditional district of Nordfjord. The village of Nordfjordeid was the administrative center of the municipality. Other larger villages in Eid included Mogrenda, Stårheim, Haugen, Kjølsdalen, Heggjabygda, and Lote. At the time of its dissolution in 2020, the municipality is the 215th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway. Sandane Airport ( no, Sandane lufthavn; ) is a regional airport serving the village of Sandane in Vestland county, Norway. It perpendicularly straddles the Anda peninsula in Gloppen Municipality between the Nordfjorden and Gloppefjorden. The airport has an asphalt runway measuring and aligned 09/27. Services are provided by Widerøe on public service obligation with the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The airport is owned and operated by the state-owned Avinor and served 37,272 passengers in 2013. Mogrenda is a village in the municipality of Stad in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located at the western end of the lake Hornindalsvatnet along the river Eidselva. Lote, Norway
Lote is a village in the municipality of Stad in Vestland county, Norway. The population of Lote (2001) was 132. The village is located about southeast of the village of Nordfjordeid and about northwest of the village of Sandane in Gloppen Municipality. The Lote Tunnel is a tunnel along the European route E39 that goes through a mountain north of Lote. The tunnel connects Lote with the rest of Stad municipality. History Starting in 1838, Lote was administratively a part of the municipality of Gloppen, despite being separated from the rest of Gloppen by the Nordfjorden. On 1 January 1992, the Lote area was transferred to the municipality of Eid (now Stad Municipality). At that time Lote had 158 inhabitants. In total, there are nine ferries, more than any other single road in Europe. In Trondheim, there are connections to E6 and E14. Nordfjorden (Sogn Og Fjordane)
Nordfjorden is the sixth longest fjord in Norway. It flows through the municipalities of Stryn, Gloppen, Stad, Bremanger, and Kinn, and it is the central feature of the entire Nordfjord region which makes up the northern third of the county. The long fjord stretches from Husevågøy island in Kinn Municipality to the village of Loen in Stryn Municipality. The fjord starts as runoff from the Jostedalsbreen, Europe's largest mainland glacier, in the east and it flows west, emptying into the ocean just south of the Stadlandet peninsula. The mouth of the fjord lies between the large islands of Vågsøy and Bremangerlandet (with the smaller island of Husevågøy lying in the middle of the mouth). Stårheim (or ''Torvika'') is a village in the municipality of Stad, Norway, Stad in Vestland county, Norway. Stårheim is located in the central part of Stad Municipality on the north shore of the Nordfjorden (Sogn og Fjordane), Nordfjorden, about west of the municipal center of Nordfjordeid and about east of the village of Kjølsdalen. Vestland
Vestland is a county in Norway established on 1 January 2020. The county is located in Western Norway and it is centred around the city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city. The administrative centre of the county is the city of Bergen, where the executive and political leadership is based, but the County Governor is based in Hermansverk.
