Norderstedt (Northern Low Saxon: ''Noordersteed'') is a city in Germany and part of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region (''Metropolregion Hamburg''), the fifth largest city (with approximately 80,000 inhabitants) in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein, belonging to the district Segeberg. History Norderstedt was created by the merger of four villages on 1 January 1970: the villages of Friedrichsgabe and Garstedt, both belonging to the district Pinneberg, and the villages of Glashütte and Harksheide, both belonging to the district Stormarn. The newly created city was assigned to the district Segeberg. Location The city hall of Norderstedt is located at . Elke Christina Roeder
Elke Christina Roeder (born November 27, 1966 in Simmern/Hunsrück) is a German politician and a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). Since 2018 she is Lord Mayor of the city of Norderstedt, which borders Hamburg. Life Roeder was born on November 27, 1966 in Simmern/Hunsrück and grew up in Wentorf bei Hamburg. She is a trained jurist and qualified bank clerk. She completed her law studies at the Leibniz University Hannover. She was mayor of Bad Pyrmont from 2006 to 2014. On October 18, 2011, she joined the SPD. The SPD had already supported her mayoral candidacy in 2006. In addition, she was chairman of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Bad Pyrmont. After the mayoral election on 25 May 2014, she was succeeded by Klaus Blome (independent) as mayor on 1 November 2014. Oliver Bendt (born Jörg Knoch on 29 October 1946 in Potsdam) is a German singer and actor. Knoch grew up the son of an actress in Munich, where he played children's roles in several films, including '' Königswalzer'' (1955) and ''Weil du arm bist, musst du früher sterben'' (1956). He received his first violin, piano and guitar lessons and became a member of the Regensburg Cathedral Boys Choir, where he received vocal training, and completed his vocal studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. Uwe Seeler (; 5 November 1936 – 21 July 2022) was a German footballer and football official. As a striker, he was a prolific scorer for Hamburger SV and also made 72 appearances for the West Germany national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest players in German football history, Seeler was named one of FIFA's 100 greatest living players by Pelé in 2004. Zwijndrecht () is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands. It is located in the province of South Holland, at the southern tip of the island of IJsselmonde, and at the confluence of the rivers Oude Maas, Beneden-Merwede, and Noord. Kohtla-Järve is a city and municipality in northeastern Estonia, founded in 1924 and incorporated as a town in 1946. The city is highly industrial, and is both a processor of oil shales and is a large producer of various petrochemical products. During the 1944–1991 Soviet occupation, large numbers of immigrant workers from Russia and other parts of the former USSR were brought in to populate the rapidly growing city. The population in the Kohtla-Järve area which had been, as of 1934 census, over 90% ethnic Estonian, became overwhelmingly non-Estonian in the second half of the 20th century. A sister city or a twin town relationship is a form of legal or social agreement between two geographically and politically distinct localities for the purpose of promoting cultural and commercial ties.
