Nongtalang College, Nongtalang, West Jaintia Hills district, Meghalaya, India was Established in the year 1988, by the people and village Durbar ( Council) of Nongtalang to promote the cause of Higher Education in Nongtalang Village in Particular and War-Jaintia area in general, under the leadership of (L) Mr. J.D. Pohrmen, Ex-Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya and (L) Mr. Chuidu Lyngdoh Headman Nongtalang village. The main objective of the Village Council in establishing the college is to provide education to the poor and needy students of the areas, whose parents could not afford to send their sons/daughters to Town and Cities for higher studies. North Eastern Hill University
North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) is a Central University established on 19 July 1973 by an Act of the Indian Parliament. The university is in the suburb of Shillong, the state capital of Meghalaya, India. The university has two campuses: Shillong and Tura both are in Meghalaya. The first pro-vice chancellor was Early Rising Singha It is the University Grants Commission's ''University with Potential for Excellence'' (conferred in 2006). Meghalaya Board Of School Education
''The Meghalaya Board of School of Education'' (MBOSE) was set up under The Meghalaya Board of School Education Act, 1973, to regulate, control and supervise matters related to School Education in the state of Meghalaya, India. It was initially set up to control the SSLC Exam until, the Pre-University degree was discontinued by the North Eastern Hill University( NEHU) in 1996. Since then, MBOSE has been responsible for conducting the Secondary School Leaving Certificate(SSLC) as well as the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate(HSSLC) Exam in the state. Initially, it started functioning in the Office of the Director of Public Instruction, Shillong which was later shifted to Araimile, Tura in 1974.
