Nomgcobo Jiba''wasthe Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions in South Africa. Early life and education Nomgcobo Jiba obtained her LLB from Walter Sisulu University in 1989 and went on to obtain her master's degree in Commercial Law in 1996. Career Jiba worked as a prosecutor in Peddie magistrate's court in the Eastern Cape in 1988 going on to also practice in courts at Tsolo and Mthatha. She resigned from government in 1997 to work for the legal firm Qunta Ntsebeza in Cape Town so as to work towards becoming an attorney, qualifying in 1998. In 1999 Jiba worked for Deloitte & Touche as a Senior Forensic Consultant in Pretoria and joined the Investigating Directorate for Serious Economic Offences as a Senior State Advocate. The Investigating Directorate was disbanded in 2001 and replaced by the Scorpions whereupon Jiba was appointed Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions. National Prosecuting Authority Of South Africa
The National Prosecution Authority (NPA) is the agency of the South African government responsible for state prosecutions. Under Section 179 of the Constitution and the National Prosecuting Authority Act of 1998, which established the NPA in 1998, the NPA has the power to institute criminal proceedings on behalf of the state and to carry out any necessary functions incidental to institution of criminal proceedings. The NPA is accountable to Parliament, and final responsibility over it lies with the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services. The Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of State Capture, Corruption and Fraud in the Public Sector including Organs of State, better known as the Zondo Commission or State Capture Commission, is a public inquiry established in January 2018 by former President Jacob Zuma to investigate allegations of state capture, corruption, and fraud in the public sector in South Africa. By December 2020, the commission had interviewed 278 witnesses and collected 159,109 pages and one exabyte of data as evidence. It received eight extensions to finish its report, with 15 June 2022 being the end of its mandate. The first part of the report was published on 4 January 2022. It was controversial for its involvement in corruption allegations exposed during the Zondo Commission of Inquiry. It consisted of Bosasa Group, Bosasa Youth Development Centres, and African Global Operations (formerly Bosasa Operations). Yahya John Mandlakayise Hlophe (born 1 January 1959 in Stanger, KwaZulu-Natal) is Judge President of the Western Cape Division of the High Court of South Africa. Background and career Born in Stanger, Natal, he was educated at the University of Natal; the University of Fort Hare and Cambridge University. Hlophe taught law at the University of Transkei, South Africa, before being appointed in 1995, aged 36, to sit as the first black judge in the High Court in Cape Town. Gerhard C. "Gerrie" Nel (, born 1961) is a South African advocate. Until January 2017, he was a prosecutor for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) of South Africa.
