''Noiseworks'' is the debut album by Australian Rock music, rock band, Noiseworks. It was released by Columbia Records, CBS Records in June 19, 1987. The album peaked at No. 6 on the Kent Music Report Albums Chart, with the introduction of the ARIA Charts, ARIA Album Charts in the beginning of 1988, the album was still in the charts at No. 37. ''Noiseworks'' sold more than 210,000 copies (3× List of music recording sales certifications, platinum) in Australia. Noiseworks
Noiseworks are an Australian hard rock band formed in Sydney in 1986 with bass guitarist Steve Balbi, guitarist Stuart Fraser, drummer Kevin Nicol, keyboardist Justin Stanley and lead vocalist Jon Stevens. They had four Australian Top 10 albums, ''Noiseworks (album), Noiseworks'' (1987), ''Touch (Noiseworks album), Touch'' (1988), ''Love Versus Money (Noiseworks album), Love Versus Money'' (1991) and ''Greatest Hits (Noiseworks album), Greatest Hits'' (1992). They produced three Top 10 singles, "Take Me Back (Noiseworks song), Take Me Back", "Touch (Noiseworks song), Touch" and "Hot Chilli Woman" before disbanding in 1992. Reunion tours occurred in 1999, 2004, 2007–2008, 2011, 2013. The band has reformed in 2016 and in August 2022, released "Heart & Soul"; their first new song in 30 years. ARIA Charts
The ARIA Charts are the main Australian music sales charts, issued weekly by the Australian Recording Industry Association. The charts are a record of the highest selling songs and albums in various genres in Australia. ARIA became the official Australian music chart in June 1988, succeeding the Kent Music Report, which had been Australia's national music sales charts since 1974. History The ''Go-Set'' charts were Australia's first national singles and albums charts, published from 5 October 1966 until 24 August 1974. The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) is a trade association representing the Australian recording industry which was established in the 1970s by six major record companies, EMI, Festival, CBS, RCA, WEA and Universal replacing the Association of Australian Record Manufacturers (AARM) which was formed in 1956. It oversees the collection, administration and distribution of music licenses and royalties. The association has more than 100 members, including small labels typically run by one to five people, medium size organisations and very large companies with international affiliates. Leon Zervos
Leon Zervos is a mastering engineer who has worked with many world-renowned artists, including Pink, Rihanna, Maroon 5, Beastie Boys, and Willie Nelson. Life and career Leon Zervos began his mastering career in 1982 at the then EMI Studios 301 in Sydney, where he worked with the likes of INXS, Crowded House, and Midnight Oil. Moving to New York City in 1992, he worked mastering for Absolute Audio for six years, before taking on the role of Senior mastering engineer at Masterdisk in 1993, where he added artists such as Aerosmith, Mobb Deep, Maroon 5, Avril Lavigne, Gavin DeGraw, Duran Duran, Ben Folds and NSYNC to his mastering portfolio, with some of the music he mastered going on to win GRAMMY Awards. Steve Balbi
Stephen Vert Balbi (born 3 October 1964) is an Australian musician and record producer. He was the founding bass guitarist in pub rockers, Noiseworks in 1986 and formed a psychedelic pop group and production duo, Electric Hippies in 1993 with fellow Noiseworks member, Justin Stanley. He joined Mi-Sex in 2011. Balbi issued his debut solo album, ''Black Rainbow'', in October 2013. Biography 1960-1985: Early years Steve Balbi was born in the mid-1960s and grew up in a Maltese family in Newtown, Sydney. Justin Stanley
Justin Stanley is an Australian musician, producer and songwriter. He has worked with an eclectic range of musicians including Beck, Prince, Jimmy Cliff, Leonard Cohen, Paul McCartney and Snoop Dogg. Some of the artists Stanley had produced, include Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow, Jet, Jamie Lidell, Nikka Costa, Jimmy Fallon, Mark Ronson, Mocky and Ryan Bingham. The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) () is an American not-for-profit performance-rights organization (PRO) that collectively licenses the public performance rights of its members' musical works to venues, broadcasters, and digital streaming services (music stores). ASCAP collects licensing fees from users of music created by ASCAP members, then distributes them back to its members as royalties. In effect, the arrangement is the product of a compromise: when a song is played, the user does not have to pay the copyright holder directly, nor does the music creator have to bill a radio station for use of a song. Jon Stevens (born 8 October 1961) is a New Zealand singer, best known for his work with Noiseworks and ''Jesus Christ Superstar''. Biography 1980–1986: career beginnings and ''Jezebel'' Stevens was born in Upper Hutt, New Zealand, and is of Scottish and Māori descent. His brother is singer Frankie Stevens. He formed his first band while at Heretaunga College. Stevens released his debut studio album ''Jezebel'' on CBS Records in 1980.
