Noisettes
Noisettes are an English indie rock band from London, currently composed of singer and bassist Shingai Shoniwa and guitarist Dan Smith. The band first achieved commercial success and nationwide recognition with the second single of their second album, " Don't Upset the Rhythm (Go Baby Go)" which reached number two on the UK Singles Chart in 2009. History 2003–2009: Formation and ''What's the Time Mr Wolf?'' The band formed in 2003 when guitarist Smith and singer Shoniwa were attending the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology in Croydon, both of whom had previously been in the band Sonarfly. Drummer Jamie Morrison (formerly of Living With Eating Disorders, Willis, Six Toes, Jaywalk Buzz, Loden Jumbo and others) was recruited after Smith saw him performing on the UK television show ' Later... with Jools Holland' with his then band, Willis. Wild Young Hearts
''Wild Young Hearts'' is the second studio album by British indie soul group Noisettes, released in the United Kingdom on 20 April 2009 by Vertigo Records, and the United States on 22 September 2009 by Mercury Records.[] Billboard.com Three singles were released from the album – "Wild Young Hearts", " Don't Upset the Rhythm (Go Baby Go)", and " Never Forget You", with "Every Now and Then" meant to be released as the fourth single, but was cancelled. Singles *The first single released from the album was the title track – "Wild Young Hearts". It was released on 29 December 2008 and the video premiered on the official Noisettes' YouTube channel on 7 January 2009. Jamie Morrison
Jamie Morrison (born 30 June 1983) is a British musician and producer from Scotland, best known as the drummer in Welsh band the Stereophonics. He is also known for his playing with Noisettes, Drewford Alabama and Ninjas & Wolves. Biography In 2012 Morrison joined the Stereophonics, following his departure from the Noisettes in 2010, a band he had joined in 2003. Morrison has produced music with songwriter and rapper Fem Fel. The pair collaborate under the name Ninjas & Wolves. Jamie has also produced Fyfe Dangerfield and many other artists under his 'Drewford Alabama' pseudonym. In July 2022 it was announced that Jamie had also been working in a new band calle86TVs alongside former Maccabees members Hugo White, Felix White and Will White. "Never Forget You" is the third single released from English band Noisettes' second studio album, ''Wild Young Hearts'' (2009). Released on 21 June 2009, the single was produced and written by the band. It followed their hit single "Don't Upset The Rhythm (Go Baby Go)" and peaked at number 20 on the UK Singles Chart in August 2009. Critical reception The single was chosen as of one of ''USA Todays "Picks of the Week" for 14 July 2009 with the following comment, "the Brit pop trio's bubbly soul ditty is, thanks to Shingai Shoniwa's sweet crooning, reminiscent of an early Motown party groove." Shingai Shoniwa
Shingai Elizabeth Maria Shoniwa ( ; born 1 September 1981), known professionally as Shingai is a Zimbabwean-British singer, songwriter and musician, best known as the vocalist and bassist for the English indie rock band Noisettes. In 2017, she launched her solo career and released her debut solo album in 2020. Early life Shingai was born and grew up in Lewisham, South East London. Her parents are both Zimbabweans who migrated to the United Kingdom. That experience, Shoniwa says, informs her music. "Wanting to escape from reality can inspire the greatest and most trivial creative natures in people," and "I think escapism is something that connects all of us. Everybody has their own little soundtrack, and I guess I’m trying to make my own soundtrack to my escape plan. I want people to realise that there's so much more." Roundhouse (venue)
The Roundhouse is a performing arts and concert venue situated at the Grade II* listed former railway engine shed in Chalk Farm, London, England. The building was erected in 1846–1847 by the London & North Western Railway as a roundhouse, a circular building containing a railway turntable, but was used for that purpose for only about a decade. After being used as a warehouse for a number of years, the building fell into disuse just before World War II. It was first made a listed building in 1954.
