''Noche de Gala'' (''Gala Night'') was a television variety show produced by Paquito Cordero. It originated in San Juan, Puerto Rico for broadcast by WKAQ-TV Telemundo on Channel 2. History In the early 1970s, it was called ''El Show Rambler Toyota'' (''The Rambler-Toyota Show'') and was hosted by Yoyo Boing. Later, it was called ''Jueves de Gala'' (''Thursday Gala Ball''). In these early years, it was broadcast locally. When the show started expanded internationally, its name was changed to ''Noche de Gala'' (''Gala Night Ball'') because it could be Broadcasting, telecast any day of the week. A later host was Eddie Miró, opposite co-hosts such as Marisol Malaret, Deborah Carthy Deu, Marilyn Pupo and Gilda Haddock. Úrsula Hilaria Celia de la Caridad Cruz Alfonso (21 October 1925 – 16 July 2003), known as Celia Cruz, was a naturalized Cuban-American singer and one of the most popular Latin artists of the 20th century. Nydia Caro (born June 7, 1948) is a Puerto Rican singer. Early years Caro was born in New York City to parents from Rincón, Puerto Rico, initiated her career in the arts at a very young age while living in New York. Gilberto Monroig (July 2, 1930 – May 3, 1996) was a Puerto Rican guitarist, and singer of boleros. Early years Monroig's parents moved from the countryside to the city in search of a better way of life and settled in the Villa Palmera sector of Santurce, a section of San Juan where the musical sounds of the bomba and plena and of the tango filled the air. Luz Esther Benítez Rosado (born July 22, 1942), also known as Lucecita, is a Puerto Rican singer, part of the country's new wave popular music. Born in Bayamon, a large city in Puerto Rico, she participated in amateur radio shows. Benítez's most important career step came in 1969, when she won the ''Festival de la Cancion Latina'' (''Festival of the Latin Song'') in Mexico. She participated with two songs, "Génesis" by G.V. Lloveras and "Energía de mis manos", by M. de Jesús. "Genesis" received the highest points (223) in the festival and Lucecita also won as best dressed performer. Roberto Sánchez-Ocampo (August 19, 1945 – January 4, 2010), better known by his stage names Sandro or Sandro de América, was an Argentine singer and actor. Musical career Early years with Anexo 3 Lou Briel started his career at a very young age as a singer, director and member of a pop musical group called ''Anexo 3''. Together they recorded four albums, the first two produced by Alfred D.
