''No Sense of Sin'' is the debut studio album of English band The Lotus Eaters (band), the Lotus Eaters. It was released in 1984 by record label Arista Records, Arista. It contains their popular single, "The First Picture of You", released the previous year. Release ''No Sense of Sin'' reached number 96 in the UK Albums Chart. The album was re-issued in 2001 by Vinyl Japan and again in 2010 by Cherry Red Records. Reception Michael Sutton, writing for ''Trouser Press'', called it "one of the most underrated albums of the '80s" and "a truly special record". The Lotus Eaters (band)
The Lotus Eaters are an English new wave band formed in 1982 in Liverpool. Their debut single, " The First Picture of You", became a hit in the UK and in continental Europe, notably France, Italy, Belgium and Spain. History Formation and success In September 1982, Peter Coyle and Jeremy "Jem" Kelly met for the first time. Kelly had been guitarist in the Dance Party with Michael Head and co-founded the Wild Swans in 1980. Coyle had previously been in the Jass Babies, who had recorded a session for John Peel's BBC Radio 1 show in 1981. After an invitation to record a Peel session, a number of new songs were created. Joined on keyboards by Kelly's fellow ex-Wild Swans member Ged Quinn, drummer Alan Wills and bassist Phil Lucking, the session was recorded in October 1982 and included "The First Picture of You". ''Trouser Press'' was a rock and roll magazine started in New York in 1974 as a mimeographed fanzine by editor/publisher Ira Robbins, fellow fan of the Who Dave Schulps and Karen Rose under the name "Trans-Oceanic Trouser Press" (a reference to a song by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and an acronymic play on the British TV show ''Top of the Pops)''. Ged Quinn (born 1963, Liverpool) is an English artist and musician. He studied at the Ruskin School of Art and St Anne's College in Oxford, the Slade School of Art in London, the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. He now lives and works in the UK. Quinn has exhibited internationally in many shows including 'FOCUS: Ged Quinn' at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Texas, US, 'Endless Renaissance' at Bass Museum, Miami Beach, 'Beyond Reality: British Painting Today' at Galerie Rudolfinum in Prague, and 'Newspeak: British Art Now' at State Hermitage Museum, Saint Petersburg, Russia. The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders.
