Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong when asked to say her real name. (born 25 December 1971), known professionally as Dido ( ), is an English singer and songwriter. She attained international success with her debut album ''No Angel'' (1999). Hit singles from the album include " Here with Me" and "Thank You". It sold over 21 million copies worldwide, and won her several awards, including two Brit Awards; for Best British Album and Best British Female, as well as the MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Act. The first verse of "Thank You" is sampled in " Stan", a collaboration with American rapper Eminem. Sister Bliss
Ayalah Deborah Bentovim (born 30 December 1970), better known by her stage name Sister Bliss, is a British keyboardist, record producer, DJ and songwriter. In the studio, she is best known for her work with Rollo Armstrong as one half of the production duo Rollo & Sister Bliss, and particularly as part of Faithless. Career Faithless Sister Bliss formed Faithless in 1995 with Rollo, Jamie Catto and Maxi Jazz. Bliss constructed most of the music of Faithless herself electronically, but also played the piano, violin, saxophone and bass guitar. Various others have been members and collaborators over the years including Zoë Johnston and, frequently, Rollo's sister Dido, who began her musical career providing backing vocals on Rollo's 1994 single 'Give Me Life' (under the pseudonym Mr V). 311 (pronounced "three eleven") is an American rock band from Omaha, Nebraska. Pauline Taylor
Pauline Taylor is a British singer and songwriter who came to recognition as the lead vocalist on the singles "Love Love Love, Here I Come" by Rollo Goes Mystic and "Let This Be a Prayer" by Rollo Goes Spiritual. Both groups are pseudonyms for producer Rollo Armstrong, a member of the band Faithless. Pauline Taylor was one of the primary lead female vocalists for Faithless. She also performed guest vocals on both of Dido's albums, and has written for a variety of artists including Melanie C, Paolo Nutini and One Eskimo. In 1999, her song "Addicted", originally released as solo B-side track to her single "Come Down", was reworked by Faithless. The new version retained Taylor's vocal performance while adding a new rap by Maxi Jazz. The song was renamed "Addictive" and featured in both the film and soundtrack of ''Cruel Intentions''. "I Want More" is a song recorded by UK dance group Faithless, released as a single on 23 August 2004. It features a vocal sample from the singer and pianist Nina Simone (from "Tell Me More and More and Then Some" on the 1965 album ''Pastel Blues''). Also sampled in the intro and outro is an excerpt from Pink Floyd’s "On the Run", from the 1970s album ''The Dark Side of the Moon''. The album version, featured on '' No Roots'', was released on 7 June 2004 and was split into two parts. The second most closely resembles the later-released single, with vocals from Maxi Jazz and Nina Simone. Nina Simone
Eunice Kathleen Waymon (February 21, 1933 – April 21, 2003), known professionally as Nina Simone (), was an American singer, songwriter, pianist, and civil rights activist. Her music spanned styles including classical, folk, gospel, blues, jazz, R&B, and pop. The sixth of eight children born from a poor family in Tryon, North Carolina, Simone initially aspired to be a concert pianist. With the help of a few supporters in her hometown, she enrolled in the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. She then applied for a scholarship to study at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where, despite a well received audition, she was denied admission,Liz Garbus, 2015 documentary film, ''What Happened, Miss Simone?'' which she attributed to racism.
