No One's First And You're Next
''No One's First, and You're Next'' is an EP by American indie rock band Modest Mouse, released on August 4, 2009. It features unreleased tracks and B-sides from the band's previous two studio albums, ''Good News for People Who Love Bad News'' (2004) and ''We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank'' (2007). The collection of repolished outtakes was first mentioned in February 2008 when ''Rolling Stone'' conducted a short interview with frontman Isaac Brock in their "Smoking Section" column; however, no other news regarding its release surfaced until an entire year later. The vinyl version was released on August 14, 2009. Promotion Singles Three sets of 7" vinyl singles preceded the EP's release. Modest Mouse
Modest Mouse is an American rock band formed in 1992 in Issaquah, Washington, and currently based in Portland, Oregon. The founding members are lead singer/guitarist Isaac Brock, drummer Jeremiah Green, and bassist Eric Judy. Strongly influenced by Pavement, Pixies, XTC, and Talking Heads, they rehearsed, rearranged, and recorded demos for almost two years before finally signing with small-town indie label K Records and releasing numerous singles. Since their 1996 debut album, ''This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About'', the band's lineup has mostly centered on Brock and Green, undergoing multiple changes. The A-side and B-side are the two sides of phonograph records and cassettes; these terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. The A-side usually features a recording that its artist, producer, or record company intends to be the initial focus of promotional efforts and radio airplay and hopefully become a hit record. The B-side (or "flip-side") is a secondary recording that typically receives less attention, although some B-sides have been as successful as, or more so than, their A-sides. Use of this language has largely declined in the 21st century as the music industry has transitioned away from analog recordings towards digital formats without physical sides, such as CDs, downloads and streaming. The song was released as the first single from that album and peaked at number 5 on ''Billboard's'' Modern Rock Tracks chart. Nando (from "News and Observer") was an American internet news service and Internet service provider (ISP), founded in 1993 by the publishers of ''The News & Observer'' newspaper in Raleigh, North Carolina. "King Rat" is a song by indie rock band Modest Mouse and appears as the title track to their fifth promotional single, following "The World At Large". The single was later released on the band's 2009 EP '' No One's First, and You're Next''. The promo also features the song "Fire It Up" from their 2007 album ''We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank''. The promo was given away through multiple online music stores when the individual purchased a pre-order of ''We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank''. The promo features the track "King Rat", later included on the "Dashboard" single, on the A-side, and "Fire It Up" on the B-side, although some discs are mislabeled, with Side A having "Fire It Up" and Side B having "King Rat" instead. Vells is an indie rock band from Seattle, Washington. The band was formed by Tristan Marcum and Ryan Kraft along with Modest Mouse drummer Jeremiah Green after his brief departure from the group in 2001. After releasing their self-titled debut EP on Seattle'Luckyhorse Industriesin 2003, Vells signed with the experimental label imputor? and released their debut full-length '' Flight From Echo Falls'' on September 7, 2004. Jeremiah Martin Green (March 4, 1977December 31, 2022) was an American musician best known as a founding member and drummer of the indie rock band Modest Mouse from 1993 to March 2003, and again from May 2004 until his death in December 2022. Early life Jeremiah Martin Green was born on March 4, 1977, in Oahu, Hawaii, while his father was stationed there in the Army. He grew up in Moxee, Washington, a few miles outside of Yakima. His family moved to the Seattle area in 1989. He had an older brother named Adam. His father was an alcoholic who was abusive to Green; he later apologized and reconciled with his son. Gramophone Record
A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English), or simply a record, is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. The groove usually starts near the periphery and ends near the center of the disc. At first, the discs were commonly made from shellac, with earlier records having a fine abrasive filler mixed in.
