No. 65 Squadron RAAF
No. 65 Squadron is a non-flying unit of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). Raised in 2015, it comprises the RAAF's airfield engineering and explosive ordnance disposal capabilities. History No. 65 Squadron was established on 1 July 2015 at RAAF Base Amberley by combining the Airfield Engineering Flight of No. 383 Squadron and No. 1 Security Forces Squadron's Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Flight. Upon formation, the squadron also comprised a small headquarters and a logistics element. The squadron's role is to provide the RAAF's airfield repair and recovery capability. At the time the unit was raised, its headquarters was located at RAAF Base Amberley and flights were located at RAAF Base Townsville, RAAF Base Richmond and Defence Establishment Orchard Hills. RAAF Base Amberley
RAAF Base Amberley is a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) military airbase located southwest of Ipswich, Queensland in Australia and southwest of Brisbane CBD. It is currently home to No. 1 Squadron (operating the F/A-18F Super Hornet), No. 6 Squadron (operating the EA-18G Growler), No. 33 Squadron (operating the Airbus KC-30A), No. 35 Squadron (operating the C-27J Spartan) and No. 36 Squadron (operating the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III). Amberley is also home to Army units making up the 9th Force Support Battalion (9 FSB). Located on , RAAF Amberley is the largest operational base in the RAAF, employing over 5,000 uniformed and civilian personnel. Bomb disposal is an explosives engineering profession using the process by which hazardous explosive devices are rendered safe. ''Bomb disposal'' is an all-encompassing term to describe the separate, but interrelated functions in the military fields of explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and improvised explosive device disposal (IEDD), and the public safety roles of public safety bomb disposal (PSBD) and the bomb squad. RAAF Base Richmond is a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) military air base located within the City of Hawkesbury, approximately North-West of the Sydney Central Business District in New South Wales, Australia. Situated between the towns of Windsor and Richmond, the base is the oldest base in New South Wales and the second oldest in Australia. The base is home to the transport headquarters RAAF Air Lift Group, and its major operational formations, Nos. 84 and 86 Wings. Defence Establishment Orchard Hills (abbreviated as DEOH) is a tri-service munitions storage base of particular importance to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). Located in , in the western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, the main role of the establishment is for storage, mainteance and distribution of Explosive Ordnance such as Bombs, Bullets, Missiles, and other military explosives. Combat Support Group is part of the Royal Australian Air Force.
