No. 28 Squadron RAAF
No. 28 Squadron was a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Active Reserve squadron, based at HMAS ''Harman'' in the Australian Capital Territory. Its main role was public affairs and imagery. The squadron was formed in 1983 and disbanded in 2020. History Raised on 1 July 1983 at RAAF Base Fairbairn, the squadron relocated to HMAS Harman upon the closure of the Fairbairn in May 2004. The squadron was initially designated as an Auxiliary unit, forming part of the Citizens Air Force, but this terminology was changed in September 1983, at which point the unit became an Active Reserve squadron. The squadron consisted of a small group of Regular personnel who administered the Reserve elements of the unit. The majority of the Reserve personnel were tasked with various base support and other roles including communications, information technology, intelligence, logistics, and planning. HMAS Harman
HMAS ''Harman'' is a Royal Australian Navy (RAN) base that serves as a communications and logistics facility. The main base is located in the Australian capital of Canberra, and is geographically recognised as the suburb of Harman (postcode 2600) in the District of Jerrabomberra. Established in the late 1930s as the Royal Australian Navy Wireless/Transmitting Station Canberra, the facility was commissioned into the RAN as a stone frigate in 1943. In addition to its communications and logistics roles, the base hosts reserve units from both the Australian Army Reserves and Royal Australian Air Force Reserves, as well as cadet units from all three branches of the Australian Defence Force Cadets. Fairbairn (), formerly RAAF Base Fairbairn, is a former Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) military air base, located in Australia's national capital, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. Over the years the name of the establishment, and the use of the land, has changed. The base was in use by the RAAF between 1940 and 2007, when the land occupied north and east of the Canberra Airport runways was sold to Capital Airport Pty Limited for the purposes of advancing civil aviation and the development of a business park. Central Flying School RAAF
Central Flying School (CFS) is a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) training unit, located at RAAF Base East Sale, Victoria. It operates the Pilatus PC-21 turboprop trainer. The school is responsible for training flight instructors, setting flying standards, and auditing flying practices. It is also home to the "Roulettes" aerobatic team. CFS was the first military aviation unit to be formed in Australia, in 1913, when its role was to provide basic flying training. Its current form dates from World War II, when it was re-established to train flying instructors for the Empire Air Training Scheme (EATS).
