Xicheng District
Xicheng District () is a district of Beijing. Xicheng District spans , covering the western half of the old city (largely inside the 2nd Ring Road - the eastern half is Dongcheng District, Beijing, Dongcheng District), and has 706,691 inhabitants (2000 Census). Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. Line 19 of the Beijing Subway () is a rapid transit line in Beijing. It is in length and has 10 stations. It is fully underground. Description Phase 1 of Line 19 begins at Mudanyuan station in Haidian District and ends at Xingong station in Fengtai District. Phase 1 of Line 19 is in length with 10 stations. The line was envisioned as a major relief line for the overcrowded Line 4 and more direct link to the Beijing Financial Street commercial area. The line uses 8-car type A rolling stock. The trains have a maximum speed of 120 km/h. However the speed limit of the first phase, which runs under the dense city center is 100 km/h. Phase II extensions north and south run through suburban areas and will be built to more generous alignments allowing for 120 km/h operations.
