Gudō Wafu Nishijima
Gudo Wafu Nishijima (, 29 November 1919 – 28 January 2014) was a Japanese Zen Buddhist priest and teacher. Biography As a young man in the early 1940s, Nishijima became a student of the Zen teacher Kōdō Sawaki. Shortly after the end of the Second World War, Nishijima received a law degree from Tokyo University and began a career in finance. It was not until 1973, when he was in his mid-fifties, that Nishijima was ordained as a Buddhist priest. His preceptor for this occasion was Rempo Niwa, a former head of the Soto Zen sect. Four years later, Niwa gave him shiho, formally accepting him as one of his successors. Nishijima continued his professional career until 1979. During the 1960s, Nishijima began giving regular public lectures on Buddhism and Zen meditation. From the 1980s, he lectured in English and had several foreign students. Hidetoshi Nishijima (actor)
is a Japanese actor. He is widely regarded as one of Japan's leading actors, having appeared in a wide range of films from science fiction films such as '' Shin Ultraman'' (2022) to small-scale art films such as ''Dolls'' (2002). He gained international recognition for his critically acclaimed leading role in the 2021 film '' Drive My Car'', for which he received the Japan Academy Film Prize for Best Actor. Hiroyuki Nishijima
is a former Japanese football player. Playing career Nishijima was born in Kawai, Nara on April 7, 1982. After graduating from high school, he joined J1 League club Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 2001. However he could not play at all in the match until 2003. Although he moved to Vissel Kobe in 2004, he could not play at all in the match. In September 2004, he moved to J2 League club Consadole Sapporo. He became a regular player as left defender of three backs defense and played all matches until end of the season. Although his opportunity to play decreased for injuries from 2005, he became a regular player again from summer 2006. Consadole won the champions in 2007 season and was promoted to J1. Kazuhiko Nishijima
(4 October 1926 – 15 February 2009) was a Japanese physicist who made significant contributions to particle physics. He was professor emeritus at the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University until his death in 2009. He was born in Tsuchiura, Japan. He is most well known for his work on the Gell-Mann–Nishijima formula, and the concept of strangeness, which he called the "eta-charge" or "η-charge", after the eta meson (). He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1960 and 1961. Life Nishijima was born in Tsuchiura, Japan on 4 October 1926. Yōsuke Nishijima
is a Japanese professional boxer who has also competed in kickboxing and mixed martial arts. Career Debuting as a professional boxer on March 26, 1992 Nishijima compiled a 24–2–1 record, and over the course of his career, won the WBO NABO Cruiserweight title, the OPBF Cruiserweight title and the World Boxing Federation Cruiserweight title. His last boxing bout, a two-round TKO loss to Cecil McKenzie in a California State Cruiserweight title fight, took place on July 10, 2003. On February 26, 2006 Nishijima debuted in mixed martial arts, at PRIDE 31, taking on Mark Hunt and losing by KO.
