Ninnan Santesson
Gertrud Paulina Santesson (14 December 1891 – 14 January 1969) was a Swedish artist and sculptor. Santesson's monumental sculptures and intimate portraits of her contemporaneous women artists are regarded as her greatest creative triumphs. Life Born in Fjärås, Sweden, Ninnan Santesson was the second of the three daughters to Berndt Ehrenfried Santesson and his wife Edith Elisabet (née Bergman). Growing up at the Mälby estate in Södermanland, her father died when she was two years old. The family moved to Stockholm, where she received her first lessons in sculpture from her mother's friend Sigrid Blomberg. While in Stockholm, Santesson was a student of the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts, but later left to complete her education in Paris. Liljevalchs
Liljevalchs konsthall (Swedish for "Liljevalch's Art Gallery") is an art gallery located on the Djurgården island in Stockholm, Sweden. Designed by architect Carl Bergsten (1879–1935) and inaugurated in March 1916, it is today owned by the City of Stockholm. Behind the entrance on the north-western corner is a small vestibule. Borås
Borås ( , , ) is a city (officially, a locality) and the seat of Borås Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It had 66,273 inhabitants in 2010. Ulf Linde
Ulf Harald Linde (15 April 1929 – 12 October 2013) was a Swedish art critic, writer, museum director and a member of the Swedish Academy. Born in Stockholm, he was elected to the Swedish Academy on 10 February 1977 and admitted on 20 December 1977. Linde succeeded the writer Eyvind Johnson to Seat No.11. Maj Bring
Ebba Maria Bring, better known as Maj (Uppsala, 29 August 1880 – Stockholm, 5 December 1971) was a Swedish painter and model. She was the daughter of Sven Casper Bring. Bring was educated at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, and she's represented in the collection of the Moderna Museet there with eleven works, seven paintings and four drawings. Her portrait of Anna Behle is in the portrait collection of Gripsholm Castle. She is the subject of several portraits in the Nationalmuseum collection, by Maja Braathen, Berta Hansson, Ninnan Santesson, and Carl Wilhelmson; the museum also owns her portrait of Johan Ramstedt. Berta Hansson
Berta Elisabet Hansson (1910–1994) was a Swedish artist and educator. She is remembered as one of the country's most prominent Expressionists, especially for her depictions of children. After first working as a schoolteacher, in 1940 she attended 's art school and started to paint. Impressed by her work, the writer and artist Elsa Björkman-Goldschmidt arranged a solo exhibition for her in 1943. Thanks to the interest of her reviewers, she soon became a full-time artist. In the 1950s, she spent a year in South Africa where she was upset by the conditions imposed on black people. On returning to Sweden she expressed her anti-apartheid feelings in artworks and textiles. Later in life, she turned to sculpture, creating portraits of children in terracotta and bronze. Her works can be seen in several Swedish museums including Nationalmuseet and Moderna Museet. Hanna Rydh
Hanna Albertina Rydh (12 February 1891 – 29 June 1964) was a Swedish archaeologist and politician for the Liberal People's Party (Sweden), Liberal People's Party. She served as a Member of Parliament in the Riksdag from 1943 to 1944 and was the 3rd President of the International Alliance of Women from 1946 to 1952. Biography Hanna Rydh was born in Stockholm to director Johan Albert Rydh and his wife Matilda Josefina Westlund. In 1919, she was married to fellow archaeologist Bror Schnittger (1882-1924). Naima Wifstrand
Naima Wifstrand (; 4 September 1890 – 23 October 1968) was a Swedish film actress, operetta singer, troubadour, director and composer. In her later years, she was cast in several supporting roles in Ingmar Bergman films. Biography Born Siri Naima Matilda Wifstrand in Stockholm in 1890, she was raised by her mother in Fleminggatan. Wifstrand never trained acting but learned the art thoroughly when she in 1905 joined the Anna Lundberg Theatre Company, a well reputed and respected theatre company in Sweden at the time. She travelled with them for a number of years, appearing in small parts and in extra parts. This eventually led her to small parts at theatres in Helsinki and around Stockholm.
