Nina Fjalestad
Nina Elise Fjalestad (born 27 April 1993 in Asker, Norway) is a Norwegian model, dancer and beauty pageant titleholder. Nina was a finalist in Frøken Norge 2011, the Norwegian national preliminary for Miss World and Miss Universe. Later the same year she was chosen to represent Norway in the annual Miss Globe International pageant held in Northern Cyprus, which she won. On 28 September 2012, she competed in the finals of the newly created Miss Universe Norway pageant. She placed as the 1st runner-up, and therefore won the title of Miss Earth Norway 2012 and the rights to represent Norway in the Miss Earth 2012 pageant to be held on 24 November in the Philippines. Fjalestad has also been active as a dancer in a group called VIVA Performance Couture. Frøken Norge 2011
The Frøken Norge 2011 ("Miss Norway 2011") beauty pageant was held on 27 August 2011 in Storefjell, Gol, Norway. The eventual winner was 23-year-old Anna Larsen Zahl from Sortland. Anna represented Norway at the 2011 Miss World pageant which was held on 6 November 2011 in London, the United Kingdom. The runner-up was 19-year-old Fay Teresa Vålbekk from Oslo. There was no winner crowned for Miss Universe this year, as the final was held too late to send the winner to the 2011 edition of the pageant. This marked the first time that Norway was not represented in Miss Universe since 1999. From over 500 applicants from all over the country, 40 quarter-finalists were chosen to compete in duels. The duel winners, who were announced on 23 May after a round of SMS voting, then made up the 20 semi-finalists. Miss Earth 2012
Miss Earth 2012, the 12th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on November 24, 2012 at the Versailles Palace in Las Piñas, Philippines. Olga Álava of Ecuador crowned her successor Tereza Fajksová of the Czech Republic at the end of the event. The pageant was broadcast live internationally on Star World and was shown 25 November 2012 at 10:00 a.m. on ABS-CBN, with coverage on Studio 23, TFC-The Filipino Channel, and also on channels of participating counties worldwide. Miss Earth-Air went to Stephany Stefanowitz, a 23-year-old German-Filipino fashion designer and model from Quezon City, Philippines. Miss Earth-Water went to Osmariel Villalobos, a 24-year-old broadcaster from Maracaibo, Venezuela. A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Miss World
Miss World is the oldest existing international beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Since his death in 2000, Morley's widow, Julia Morley, has co-chaired the pageant.
