Nilakanta Sharma
Shanglakpam Nilakanta Sharma (born 2 May 1995) is an Indian field hockey player who plays as a midfielder for the Indian national team. He was part of the Indian squad that won the 2016 Men's Hockey Junior World Cup. And Finally he won gold medal in 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou. Career Hailing from Kontha Ahallup Makha Leikai in Imphal East, Nilakanta started playing hockey in 2003. He played for Posterior Hockey Academy Manipur until 2011 when he switched to Bhopal Hockey Academy. He was selected for the national junior team for the 2014 Sultan of Johor Cup and drafted by the Dabang Mumbai franchise of the Hockey India League. Hockey Junior World Cup
The Men's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup, formerly known as the Hockey Junior World Cup, is an international field hockey competition organized by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The tournament was started in 1979. Since 1985 it has been held every four years.With the exception of the 2021 tournament,competitors must be under the age of 21 as of December 31 in the year before the tournament is held. There is also a corresponding event for the women's junior teams. This competition started in 1989 and uses the same format as the men's event. Five countries have dominated the event's history. Germany is the most successful team, having won the tournament six times followed by Argentina and India, having won the tournament two times. Hockey India League (HIL), known as the Coal India Hockey India League is a professional field hockey league in India. The league is organized by Hockey India, the governing body for the sport in India. HIL, along with the Indian Premier League, Indian Super League, and Pro Kabaddi League, is considered one of the major sports leagues in the country. HIL consists of six teams, with the regular season lasting two months from January to February, with each team playing 10 games. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball.
