Nikolaj Majorov
Nikolaj Majorov (born 18 August 2000) is a Swedish figure skater. He is the 2020 Swedish national champion. Personal life Majorov was born on 18 August 2000 in Luleå, Sweden. His parents – Alexander Majorov Sr., a figure skating coach, and Irina Majorova, a choreographer and dance teacher – moved to Sweden from Russia. He is the younger brother of Swedish figure skater Alexander Majorov. He has stated that his career goal following his competitive skating career is to become a police officer. Career Early years Majorov began learning to skate in 2002. He competed in the advanced novice ranks through February 2015. His junior international debut came in October 2015 at the International Cup of Nice. He placed 31st at the 2017 World Junior Championships in Taipei, Taiwan. 2020 European Figure Skating Championships
The 2020 European Figure Skating Championships were held in Graz, Austria, on 20–26 January 2020. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dance. Salchow Jump
The Salchow jump is an edge jump in figure skating. It was named after its inventor, Ulrich Salchow, in 1909. The Salchow is accomplished with a takeoff from the back inside edge of one foot and a landing on the back outside edge of the opposite foot. It is "usually the first jump that skaters learn to double, and the first or second to triple".Kestnbaum, p. 284 Timing is critical because both the takeoff and landing must be on the backward edge. Quadruple Jump
A quad, or quadruple, is a figure skating jump with at least four (but fewer than five) revolutions. All quadruple jumps have four revolutions, except for the quadruple Axel, which has four and a half revolutions. The quadruple toe loop and quadruple Salchow are the two most commonly performed quads. Quadruple jumps have become increasingly common among World and Olympic level men's single skaters, to the point that not performing a quad in a program has come to be seen as a severe handicap. This phenomenon is often referred to as the "quad revolution". 2021 World Figure Skating Championships
The 2021 World Figure Skating Championships were held in Stockholm, Sweden from March 22–28, 2021. Figure skaters competed for the title of world champion in men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dance. The competition was used to determine the entry quotas for each federation at the 2022 World Championships and was the first qualification event for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Stockholm was announced as the host in June 2018. It was the first time that Stockholm had hosted the World Championships since 1947 and the first time that Sweden had hosted since 2008. 2020 Internationaux De France
The 2020 Internationaux de France was scheduled to be the fourth event in the 2020–21 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It would have been held at Patinoire Polesud in Grenoble, France on November 13–15. Medals were to be awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a large number of modifications were made to the Grand Prix structure.
