Nikola Kovačević (politician)
Nikola Kovačević ( cyrl, Никола Ковачевић; 12 December 1890, in Nudo, Nikšić, Principality of Montenegro – 24 August 1964, in Herceg Novi, SFR Yugoslavia) was a Montenegrin communist politician and revolutionary, member of Communist Party of Yugoslavia, one of the founders of Communist Party of Montenegro and Head of State and Parliament of SR Montenegro (from 1950 to 1953). He was brother of Sava Kovačević, People's Liberation Army commander and People's Hero of Yugoslavia. He was a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia since 1920. From 6 November 1950 to 4 February 1953 he held the office of President of the Presidium of the National Assembly, and from 4 February to 19 December 1953 the office of President of the National Assembly of the People's Republic of Montenegro. Irena Vujović (; born 3 April 1983) is a Serbian politician serving as minister of environmental protection since 2020. A member of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), she previously served as president of the Savski Venac Municipality from 2016 to 2020. Early life and education She was born in 1983 in Belgrade. Her great-grandfather was Nikola Kovačević, a high ranking Montenegrin member of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia and the brother of Sava Kovačević, a commander of the Yugoslav Partisans. Sava Kovačević
Sava Kovačević ( sr-cyrl, Сава Ковачевић; 25 January 1905 – 13 June 1943) was a Yugoslav Partisan divisional commander during World War II, and one of the heroes of the communist Partisan movement. Early life Kovačević was born in the village of Nudo near Grahovo to father Blagoje and mother Jovana (née Perović), into a family of peasants. In his early age he worked as a lumberjack and blacksmith and adopted communism, becoming a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) in 1925.
