Nigel Thompson (artist)
Nigel Ernest Thompson (born 25 June 1964) is a former Irish first-class cricketer. Thompson was born at Derry and educated at Limavady High School. Playing club cricket for several club teams in the North West, Thompson made his debut in first-class cricket for Ireland against Scotland at Dumfries in 1988. Thompson made two further appearances in first-class cricket for Ireland, both against Scotland in 1989 and 1991. He scored 79 runs in these matches and took 3 wickets. Thompson also played one-day List A cricket for Ireland on two occasions, the first occasion came in the 1989 NatWest Trophy against Derbyshire at Derby, while the second came against Middlesex in the 1991 NatWest Trophy at Dublin. He scored 26 runs in these two matches and took 2 wickets. Outside of cricket, he works as a manufacturing operator for DuPont. Derry
Derry, officially Londonderry (), is the second-largest city in Northern Ireland and the fifth-largest city on the island of Ireland. Derbyshire County Cricket Club
Derbyshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Derbyshire. Its limited overs team is called the Derbyshire Falcons in reference to the famous peregrine falcon which nests on the Derby Cathedral (it was previously called the Derbyshire Scorpions until 2005 and the Phantoms until 2010). Founded in 1870, the club held first-class status from its first match in 1871 until 1887. Because of poor performances and lack of fixtures in some seasons, Derbyshire then lost its status for seven seasons until it was invited into the County Championship in 1895. Pakistani Cricket Team In Ireland In 2018
The Pakistan cricket team visited Ireland in May 2018 to play a Test match against the Ireland cricket team. It was the first Test match played by the Ireland men's team since they were awarded Test status by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in June 2017. The Ireland women's cricket team had previously played a Women's Test match, also against Pakistan, in July 2000. Pakistan won the one-off fixture by five wickets, with Ireland's Kevin O'Brien named as the man of the match, after he scored the first century for Ireland in Test cricket. Despite the loss, Cricket Ireland deemed the match to be a great success. Pakistan's captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed, praised the performance of the Ireland team during the match. Test cricket is a form of first-class cricket played at international level between teams representing full member countries of the International Cricket Council (ICC). A match consists of four innings (two per team) and is scheduled to last for up to five days. In the past, some Test matches had no time limit and were called Timeless Tests. Castle Avenue Cricket Ground, also known as Clontarf Cricket Club Ground, is a cricket ground in the suburb of Clontarf, Dublin, Clontarf, Dublin, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The County Cricket Ground (usually shortened to the County Ground, also known as the Racecourse Ground; currently the Incora County Ground due to sponsorship) is a cricket ground in Derby, England.
