Nicolai Budkov Kjær
Nicolai Budkov Kjær (born 1 September 2006) is a Norwegian professional tennis player. He has a career high ATP singles ranking of No. 736, achieved on 24 June 2024. He also has a career-high ITF junior combined ranking of No. 1, achieved on 15 July 2024. Early life Nicolai Budkov Kjær was born to a Norwegian father and an Estonian mother. He lives in Bygdøy, Oslo, and trains at Oslo Tennisarena and Wang Toppidrett. Junior career He won the 2024 Wimbledon Championships boys' singles title, the first Norwegian to do so. He also won the 2024 French Open boys' doubles title alongside Joel Schwärzler, also the first for a Norwegian. Professional career In February 2024, he replaced Dominic Thiem at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown in Oslo, the ninth edition of the tournament. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Ultimate Tennis Showdown
The Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) is an international individual tennis league first played in 2020. The competition was organized by tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou, and Alex Popyrin — entrepreneur and father of Alexei Popyrin, in response to the disruption of the tennis season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The events use a modified scoring format, with matches divided into timed quarters, and players allowed to play power up "cards" during matches to impact the game. Ranking The ranking at the end of UTS 1 is as follows: UTS1 Finals Format UTS matches use a different format in comparison to traditional rules, including matches being divided into timed quarters rather than sets, a 15-second shot clock for serves and the ability to take a coaching timeout once per-set, and "cards" — which allow players to affect the game (such as taking away the opponent's second serve). Lawn Tennis is a Peruvian sports club, playing in the city of Lima, Peru. History Lawn Tennis was founded on June 27, 1884, by a group of English immigrants, and had Juan P. Gallagher Gibbs as their first chairman. Its original headquarters were in the Parque de la Exposición, but it later moved to the Jesús María district in the early 20th century. The club is the usual ground for the Peru Davis Cup team's matches. The club's main sports are Tennis, along with swimming, volleyball, badminton, squash and Paleta Frontón. The twelve winners from the World Group I will play at the qualifying round and the twelve losers will play at the World Group I Play-offs in 2024. The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. Clay Court
A clay court is one of the types of tennis court on which the sport of tennis, originally known as "lawn tennis", is played. Clay courts are made of crushed stone, brick, shale, or other unbound mineral aggregate depending on the tournament. The French Open uses clay courts, the only Grand Slam tournament to do so. Clay courts are more common in Continental Europe and Latin America than in North America, Asia-Pacific or Britain. Two main types exist: red clay, the more common variety, and green clay, also known as "rubico", which is a harder surface. Although less expensive to construct than other types of tennis courts, the maintenance costs of clay are high as the surface must be rolled to preserve flatness. The Wimbledon Championships, commonly known simply as Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious. It has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London, since 1877 and is played on outdoor grass courts, with retractable roofs over the two main courts since 2019. The Norway Davis Cup team represents Norway in the Davis Cup competition and is governed by the Norwegian Tennis Association. Norway currently compete in World Group I. They never qualified for the World Group in the old Davis Cup format, though they reached the World Group play-offs in 1995. They have still yet to participate in the new format's Davis Cup Finals.
