Nicklin Ministry
The Nicklin Ministry was a ministry of the Government of Queensland and was led by Country Party Premier Frank Nicklin. It succeeded the Gair Ministry on 12 August 1957 following the defeat of both Labor and the QLP at the state election held nine days earlier. It was succeeded by the Pizzey Ministry on 17 January 1968 when Nicklin retired from politics. The Ministry
In constitutional usage in Commonwealth realms, a ministry (usually preceded by the definite article, i.e., the ministry) is a collective body of government ministers led by a head of government, such as a prime minister. It is described by Oxford Dictionaries as "a period of government under one prime minister". Although the term "cabinet" can in some circumstances be a synonym, a ministry can be a broader concept which might include office-holders who do not participate in cabinet meetings. Other titles can include "administration" (in the United States) or "government" (in common usage among most parliamentary systems) to describe similar collectives. Winston Noble
Henry Winston Noble (5 July 1909 – 28 March 1964) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Noble was born at Brisbane, Queensland, the son of the Alexander Noble and his wife Alice Ann (née Wood). He was educated at Brisbane Grammar School and went on to the University of Queensland and the University of Sydney where he earned his MBBS. He became a resident medical officer in Sydney before heading back to Brisbane and working as a medical practitioner in Brisbane. Ernie Evans
Ernest "Ernie" Evans (6 March 1892 – 28 February 1965) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Evans was born in Killarney, Queensland, the son of Joseph Evans and his wife Harriet (née Murphy). He was educated at Spring Creek Killarney State Schools and after finishing his education worked as a shearer and timber cutter. In 1920 he went partners in a sugar cane farm at Little Mulgrave. Having trouble transporting the cane, he organised the local farmers into forming a company to build a train line to the Mulgrave sugar mill. In 1929 he moved to the Mackay district and bought another cane farm and became heavily associated with the Australian Sugar Producers Association. Sir Thomas Alfred Hiley, (25 November 1905 – 6 November 1990) was Treasurer of the Australian state of Queensland from 1957 to 1965. Early life Hiley was born in Brisbane, Queensland, the son of William and Maria Hiley (''nee'' Savage). He was educated at Central Brisbane Primary School, Brisbane Grammar School and the University of Queensland. Hiley worked as a Chartered Accountant. Political career Hiley entered the Legislative Assembly of Queensland as member for Logan on 15 April 1944, a seat he held until switching to the new seat of Coorparoo on 29 April 1950. When Coorparoo was abolished on 28 May 1960, Hiley represented the new district of Chatsworth until retiring on 28 May 1966.
