Nick Mamer
Nicholas Bernard Mamer (1897 – January 10, 1938) was a noted American aviation pioneer and pilot in the Pacific Northwest during the 1920s and 1930s. Early career Mamer learned to fly in San Diego and served with the Aviation Section, U.S. Signal Corps of the United States Army during World War I. He later settled in Spokane, Washington, establishing the Mamer Flying Service and Mamer Air Transport firms at Parkwater airstrip, renamed Felts Field in 1927. Mamer was a flight instructor and charter pilot, and was involved in early forest fire patrol flights for the U.S. Forest Service. Among his flight pupils was Bob Johnson, a well-known aviation pioneer in Missoula, Montana. Gallatin County, Montana
Gallatin County is located in the U.S. state of Montana. With its county seat in Bozeman, it is the second-most populous county in Montana, with a population of 118,960 in the 2020 Census. The Panama Canal Zone ( es, Zona del Canal de Panamá), also simply known as the Canal Zone, was an unincorporated territory of the United States, located in the Isthmus of Panama, that existed from 1903 to 1979. It was located within the territory of Panama, consisting of the Panama Canal and an area generally extending on each side of the centerline, but excluding Panama City and Colón. Buhl Airsedan
The Buhl AirSedan was a family of American civil cabin sesquiplane aircraft developed and manufactured by the Buhl Aircraft Company in the late 1920s. One example completed the first transcontinental non-stop roundtrip flight, made in 1929 by the CA-6 ''Spokane Sun-God'', and the first Pope to have flown did so in a Buhl Airsedan. Design and development The Airsedan series were designed by Etienne Dormoy following the departure of Alfred V. Verville from Buhl, with whom he had worked previously. Dormoy had worked with Deperdussin before World War one, flew combat operations during the war before returning to work with SPAD, travelled to the US to coordinate production of SPADs with Curtiss until the project was cancelled with the end of the war.
