Nic Jones (born Nicolas Paul Jones; 9 January 1947) is an English singer, songwriter and musician. Regarded as a prominent figure of the British folk revival, he has recorded five solo albums and collaborated with various musicians. Biography Nic Jones was born on 9 January 1947 in Orpington, London, England, where his father owned a newsagent's shop. The family moved to Brentwood in Essex when he was two, and he later attended Brentwood School. He first learned to play guitar as a young teenager and early musical influences included such artists as The Shadows, Duane Eddy, Chet Atkins, Wes Montgomery and Ray Charles. His interest in folk music was aroused by an old school friend, Nigel Paterson who was a member of a folk band called The Halliard. Nicholas Jones (born 3 April 1946) is an English character actor who has appeared on stage, film and television. Early life Jones was born in London, the younger brother of actress Gemma Jones. They are the children of actor Griffith Jones (1909–2007) and Robin Isaac. He was educated at Westminster School. Jones's acting career started in 1965, when he became a stage manager at the Everyman Theatre, Liverpool. He made the scenery, set the lights and ran the shows. After taking on various small acting roles, Terry Hands, the theatre director, suggested he should be doing more acting, so he auditioned for the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He arrived a day late, due to travelling from Liverpool in a 1946 Triumph Roadster and, for the first and only time, used his father's name to get to see the principal. In television, he is known for working as a writer and producer on the first four seasons of the Netflix series, ''Orange is the New Black'', as well as the Netflix series '' GLOW.'' Nicholas Allen Jones (born 20 January 1969), known as Nicky Wire, is a Welsh musician and songwriter, best known as lyricist, bassist and secondary vocalist of the Welsh alternative rock band, Manic Street Preachers. Prior to the group, Wire studied politics at university; this would later influence his lyrical work. He was co-writer of the band's lyrics (alongside Richey Edwards) from 1989 to 1995, and has been the band's primary lyricist since 1995, following Edwards' disappearance. Nicholas Jones (born October 15, 2001) is an American football cornerback for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Ball State. Early life and education Jones was born on October 15, 2001, and grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He was the second-youngest of eight children. He attended Southfield High School and played two years of varsity football, being ranked a three-star recruit before committing to Ball State. As a true freshman at Ball State, Jones totaled 18 tackles with four pass breakups while appearing in 12 games, two of which he started. He most recently played for Grizzlys Wolfsburg of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). Career Jones played collegiate hockey for the Mercyhurst Lakers in the NCAA Men's Division I Atlantic Hockey conference. In his junior year, Jones was named to the 2012–13 All-AHA First Team.
