Nicholas Thompson (golfer)
Nicholas Thompson (born December 25, 1982) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour. Thompson was born in Plantation, Florida. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 2005 with a degree in business management and was a member of the 2002 ACC championship team. He turned professional after graduating. Thompson won his PGA Tour card for 2006 by finishing third in the 2005 qualifying school. He made 15 of 32 cuts, with one top-10 finish in 2006 and lost his tour card when he finished 180th on the money list. In 2007, he played on the Nationwide Tour, winning once, the HSBC New Zealand PGA Championship, and finishing sixth on the money list, thus earning his PGA Tour card for 2008. He recorded six top-10 finishes in the 2008 season, including a tie for seventh at The Barclays, the first tournament in the 2008 FedEx Cup. Plantation, Florida
Plantation is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. As of the 2020 U.S. census, the population was 91,750. It is a principal city of the Miami metropolitan area. Humana Challenge
The Desert Classic (currently known as The American Express for sponsorship reasons; previously known as the CareerBuilder Challenge, Palm Springs Golf Classic, the Bob Hope Desert Classic, the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, and the Humana Challenge) is a professional golf tournament in southern California on the PGA Tour. Played in mid-winter in the Coachella Valley (greater Palm Springs), it is part of the tour's early season "West Coast Swing." It previously had five rounds of competition (90 holes) rather than the standard of four rounds, and was known for its celebrity pro-am. For many years, the event was named for and hosted by entertainer Bob Hope and featured a number of celebrity participants. The Open Championship
The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. The Masters Tournament (usually referred to as simply The Masters, or the U.S. Masters outside North America) is one of the four major championships in professional golf. Scheduled for the first full week of April, the Masters is the first major of the year, and unlike the others, it is always held at the same location, Augusta National Golf Club, a private course in the city of Augusta, Georgia, in the southeastern United States. 2007 Nationwide Tour
The 2007 Nationwide Tour season ran from January 25 to November 4. The season consisted of 32 official money golf tournaments; three of which were played outside the United States. The top 25 players on the year-end money list earned their PGA Tour card for 2008. Nick Flanagan earned his PGA Tour card by winning three tournaments on the season. David Morland IV
David James Morland IV (born April 3, 1969) is a Canadian professional golfer who has played on the Canadian Tour, PGA Tour, and Nationwide Tour. Morland was born in North Bay, Ontario. He turned professional in 1991 after going to Kent State University. His first professional success came in the 1999 McDonald's Prince Edward Island Challenge on the Canadian Tour. In late 1999 Morland finished tied for 16th place in the PGA Tour Q-school to gain a place on the tour for 2000. He had four seasons playing on the PGA Tour, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004, and competed in a total of 120 PGA Tour events. His best season was 2002 when he finished 150th in the money list. He had three top-10 finishes, his best being to be tied for 5th place in the 2001 Canadian Open. The Jones Cup Invitational is an annual amateur golf tournament. It has been played since 2001 at Ocean Forest Golf Club in Sea Island, Georgia. It was originally biannual but it became an annual event in 2009. It is an individual 54-hole stroke-play competition.
