Nicholas Paul (cyclist)
Nicholas Paul (born 23 September 1998) is a Trinidadian track cyclist, who specializes in sprinting events. Career On 6 September 2019, Paul set a flying 200m world record of 9.100 seconds at the Elite Pan American Track Cycling Championships in Coachabamba, Bolivia. The previous record of 9.347 seconds by France's Francois Pervis had stood since 2013. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, in the quarterfinals of the sprint competition, Paul won his first ride against Denis Dmitriev (ROC) but was disqualified in the second ride for not holding his line in the final sprint. Paul went on to lose the third ride controversially when Dmitriev cut in front of him in the sprinter's lane but the appeal from the Trinidad & Tobago Olympic Committee was denied. In September 2021, Paul participated in the UCI Track Nations Cycling Cup, coming away with triple Golds in the Kilo Time Trial, Keirin & Sprints. Gasparillo
Gasparillo is a settlement in southern Trinidad. It lies east of Pointe-à-Pierre and northeast of San Fernando. The population is 16,426. The name Gasparillo is applied not only to Gasparillo area, but also the surrounding communities including Bonne Aventure, Reform and Whiteland. Trinidadians do not use Spanish sounds when saying Gasparillo. Correct local pronunciation is "gas-PARR-ri-low." Gasparillo is administrated by Couva–Tabaquite–Talparo Regional Corporation and Princes Town Regional Corporation. Gasparillo owes much of its size to its proximity to the Petrotrin oil refinery at Pointe-à-Pierre. Jack Carlin
Jack Carlin (born 23 April 1997) is a Scottish track cyclist, who competes in sprinting events and won two medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Cycling career In 2016, Carlin won his first senior international medal when taking silver at the European Track Championships in the team sprint. In 2018 he won silver medals at the World Championships in both the sprint and team sprint. This was followed by silver in the sprint at the Commonwealth Games and bronze at the European Championships in the keirin. Carlin again achieved a silver medal in the team sprint at the 2020 World Championships. He then went on to become a double olympic medallist in Tokyo, winning silver and bronze in the team sprint and sprint respectively. Cycling At The 2022 Commonwealth Games
Cycling at the 2022 Commonwealth Games was held between 29 July and 7 August 2022 at four different venues. There were 26 events altogether in cycling, making the sport third-highestt in terms of number of medals available. There were 20 events in track cycling (including four for para-cycling), two in mountain biking, two in road time trials and two in road racing. Njisane Phillip
Njisane Nicholas Phillip (born 29 May 1991) is a former Trinidadian track cyclist active from 2010 until 2019. Born in Siparia, he competed for Trinidad and Tobago at the 2012 Summer Olympics, where he achieved a fourth place finish in the individual sprint, as well as at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games. and at several Pan American Games and Championships. In the latter, he was the 2012 Pan American Championships sprint champion. He is credited with reviving track cycling in his country, and the end of his career coincided with the rise of his compatriot World Championship silver medalist, Nicholas Paul. He retired after the 2019 Pan American Games. Phillip's later career and early retirement were clouded by recreational drug issues. He was stripped of a gold and silver medal from the 2019 Pan American Games after a doping sample was found to contain cannabis, a prohibited though not performance enhancing drug. Kwesi Browne (born 31 January 1994) is a Trinidad and Tobago male track cyclist, representing Trinidad and Tobago at international competitions. He won the bronze medal in the keirin at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games and also at the 2016 Pan American Track Cycling Championships.
