Eromanga is an outback town and locality in the Shire of Quilpie, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Eromanga had a population of 119 people. Geography The town lies on the edge of what is called the Eromanga Inland Sea, which existed in the Early Cretaceous. The Eromanga region has abundant oil wells and opal mines. Norman Tindale
Norman Barnett Tindale AO (12 October 1900 – 19 November 1993) was an Australian anthropologist, archaeologist, entomologist and ethnologist. Life Tindale was born in Perth, Western Australia in 1900. His family moved to Tokyo and lived there from 1907 to 1915, where his father worked as an accountant at the Salvation Army mission in Japan. Norman attended the American School in Japan, where his closest friend was Gordon Bowles, a Quaker who, like him, later became an anthropologist. The family returned to Perth in August 1917, and soon after moved to Adelaide where Tindale took up a position as a library cadet at the Adelaide Public Library, together with another cadet, the future physicist, Mark Oliphant. In 1919 he began work as an entomologist at the South Australian Museum. Wilson River (Queensland)
The Wilson River, part of the Lake Eyre Basin, is an ephemeral river located in the Channel Country in western Queensland, Australia. The Wilson River rises on the slopes of the Grey Range and flows generally northwest through the Nockanoora (or Noccundra) waterhole and is joined by two minor tributaries before reaching its confluence with the Cooper Creek at what was known as Depot Camp (Camp 63). The river descends over its course. It is believed that Burke and Wills first found water on the Macleay Plains and crossed Cooper Creek near its junction with the Wilson River, on 11 November 1860. Thylungra Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a sheep station in Queensland. Description The property is situated approximately north west of Quilpie and south east of Windorah. Neighbouring properties include the Milo and Budgerygar aggregation and Arleun Station that are all owned or leased by George Scott, the current owner of Thylungra. It is situated in the Channel Country on Kyabra Creek, a tributary of Cooper Creek. The property is predominantly open downs flood-out country with black soils to the south with large areas of gidyea stands interspersed with low sandhills. The north is mostly mulga country with remainder of the property being stony range country.
