News24 (Bangladeshi TV Channel)
News24 is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite and cable pay television channel dedicated to news programming. It began broadcasts on 28 July 2016, and is owned by East West Media Group, a subsidiary of Bashundhara Group. News24 is based in the Bashundhara Residential Area in Baridhara. History In November 2013, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission granted Bashundhara Group's East West Media Group a broadcasting license to operate News24. It received its frequency allocation in January 2015. Its logo was officially revealed in February 2016. The channel began test broadcasts on 26 March 2016. News24 was one of the nine Bangladeshi television channels to sign an agreement with Bdnews24.com to subscribe to a video-based news agency run by children called ''Prism'' in May 2016. 1080i (also known as Full HD or BT.709) is a combination of frame resolution and scan type. 1080i is used in high-definition television (HDTV) and high-definition video. The number "1080" refers to the number of horizontal lines on the screen. The "i" is an abbreviation for "interlaced"; this indicates that only the even lines, then the odd lines of each frame (each image called a video field) are drawn alternately, so that only half the number of actual image frames are used to produce video. Naem Nizam (born 5 November 1965) is a Bangladeshi journalist, writer, philanthropist and the editor of daily ''Bangladesh Pratidin'', the largest circulated Bengali language daily in Bangladesh. He is the Vice President of Sheikh Russell KC, a professional football club based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, currently playing in the Bangladesh Premier League. Shahnaz Munni (Bengali শাহনাজ মুন্নী, born 1969) is a Bangladeshi journalist, poet and writer. Since January 2016, she has been chief news editor with the Dhaka-based television channel News24. She also takes a special interest in children's welfare. Biography Born on 8 February 1969 in Dhaka, Munni attended Dhaka's Holy Cross College before studying social sciences at the University of Dhaka in 1994. On graduation, her career as a journalist started with Ekushey Television at the beginning in 1999. She then joined ATN Bangla as a senior reporter in 2003 before moving to News 24 as a special correspondent. In 2016, she was promoted to senior news editor.
